Daniel Z. Klein, the vocal lead and one of several Lead Character Designers at Respawn Entertainment for Apex Legends has been fired over inappropriate comments said in 2007. Here’s a breakdown of his history with community, what happened, and what there is to learn from it all. I find it important to say I have interviewed Daniel, and I have no ill will or dislike towards him from any interaction I’ve ever had with him personally. He says that he has grown, and I felt that I was speaking to someone who in no way represented the things he said in 2007 – which made it quite a shocking revelation to see that brought up from his past. Overall, this decision to fire him by EA/Respawn is not clear whether this is completey irregardless of his recent tensions with the high level pro community of apex legends players and antagonistic encounters across twitter, but either way it seems the main reason he was let go is due to these uncovered statements of a mysoginistic and racist nature that he said. Why they were uncovered? That’s possibly the more important question, as I’m not sure this would have become an issue if he was well liked by a large, vocal section of the Apex Legends community. I belive in accountability, and thus my statements in the video reflect that we are responsible creators for our actions, so it is very important to take actions your future self will be proud of. When that isn’t the case, really tragic and unfortunate things can come back around, and it seems that it has done so for Daniel here. Wishing all hurt by this, and all involved the best moving forward, and hopefully everyone can learn and become better as a result.

  1. We have interview Daniel on this Channel, so I found it important to follow up on this story – whereas I usually don't cover things of this nature. I also truly hope my brethren and sisters listen at the end…take CARE today so your Future Self will be able to live their best life.

  2. Man I'm listening to this for the 4th time now and I swear this shit just hits different. My thoughts would be more than I'm willing to comment and is something we'd talk for hours on. Bottom line is I felt that to my core and believe our community/society/WORLD, whatever age, needs to hear the wisdom and life knowledge you just presented. It's a blueprint to a wealthy and successful life most of us (including me) don't even realize for a long time. I'll be passing these words to help spread some positive mental attitude most definitely.

  3. I don’t think he deserved the punishment if he actually was a kiddo in 2007. But if he was a grown ass man (even if he was young) then he knew better and he should absolutely get the punishment. At the very least this is a learning opportunity for all.

  4. Hey Raynman, I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and felt I needed to jump into this one. Maybe Daniel should have been fired maybe not, I mean, who can truly see a person’s heart. That being said, it is sad that a majority of people move on the facts in front of them even when we are ignorant of the complete truth. The truth is that some with hate in their heart look for every reason to destroy perceived racism/sexism/any other ism you can think of. That they throw the stone without being sure it is really deserved. I am biracial, black and white, and have felt racism from both sides, in fact I’d venture to say all sides since it seems most people can’t even guess my race/ethnicity, However, I have never classified others based on their appearance, while it’s true that I may be ignorant of others cultures I have always paid the most attention to how they treat me and the others around me. Accepting the differences between yourself and others is enlightening and true trust and friendship cannot be experienced without doing so. End comment. PS. Please don’t stop making videos. You are one of the only content creators that I really feel comes off as a person out for nothing but to share their opinions and logical thoughts. Thank you for being there!

  5. I don't think Daniel deserved to be fired for those things in the past, he's turned a new leaf and is a much better person now, and I believe forgivenes is important. However, I do think he should've been fired with how poorly he handled the balancing.

  6. His ability shouldn't do any damage. His ability allows him to highlight enemies for a long duration, show the health bar of enemies to squad, stops all heals and or res attempts, and is able to go through walls. All of this is just too much for one ability. causing 10 damage is unnecessary.

  7. Seer Nerf:
Let’s look at what niche Seer could fill. I think the amount of time you see people after you hit them with your tactical is a real issue, because it makes Bloodhound obsolete. Same with the flash, it just makes it no fun to play against him. The interrupt is the real key thing that should be focused on. So to rework his tactical, get rid of the flash, keep the healthbars but make the scan last just 2 seconds, keep the interrupt as the star of the show. So if you Scan someone and want to follow them, you have to use his passive to track them down.

So his ult. I think punishing people for moving in a shooter that’s all about movement is not the way to go. And a big part what makes it so frustrating to play against is the fact that you have to wait until it’s gone and you can do nothing about it but fighting at a disadvantage or just leaving the area.
Making the ultimate destroyable with guns/nades would be one way, another approach would be if e.g. cryptos EMP could destroy his ult, or if you would be safe when standing close to a Wattson ult, if it can destroy nades it should be able to destroy micro drones.
I think a slightly better approach would be to make Seer the ultimate. That the circle is a bit smaller and around him, disappearing when he gets knocked. So you have a really impactful ability that’s useful for you and your team, but you have to put yourself at risk of getting focused.

  8. It's wrong but it's mistakes in youth, it's just a ashame some thing live with you for life. Nobody is personally offended by these comment's in his childhood he shouldn't have lost his job and everything over it. You have in the uk a football commentator who spat into the a car onto a little girl because they lost the match. Sky sports gave him a couple months suspension. This guy loses everything not right

  10. To fire someone for past mistakes is kinda stupid. People act like they never did something stupid in their younger days. We all make mistakes and learn from them thats part of growing up.

  11. I think a great balance to Seers interrupt would be instead of literally cancelling the entire thing and having to restart the entire process again it stops the process of healing/reviving dead at wherever it was and after the timeframe has past, it will resume from where it left off. So that way they still get a halt on healing or reviving which encourages a push if necessary but doesn’t necessarily put the opponent at such a disadvantage like right now.
