  1. If you wanna know how deep the Ekko vs Jinx fight goes, watch the MV for Enemy by Imagine Dragons, its basically an baby Ekko & Powder montage of childhood memories.

Its one of my fave fight scenes to, not just because how dope the fight and music is aninated but how symbolism and attention to detail runs deep.

When Ekko brings out the stopwatch, Jinx immediately reacts with a smile and starts to assume a stance, this tells us she already know Ekko was inviting her to play the paintball game they played as kids, although this time, as adults, and at the cost of their lives.

It runs even deeper that Jinx fired the first 3 shots the same way Powder did, but did not fire the 4th one, the shot that hit little Ekko.

And an even deeper theory is, that subtle but genuine smile Jinx did before releasing a grenade was for her childhood bestfriend, but the grenade was for herself. What a tragic ending to a friendship.

  2. Biggest advice to you dudes, understand that this whole show, and the ideas in the show, such as mining gauntlets, and other things going on and that are soon to come, are all, in some cases literally, from the League of Legends game, and all of the lore of the many Champions and of the world of Runeterra.

And to correct your ignorance about that "opening", you are sadly, way off, because THAT opening is a HUGE nod to all of us who actually "play" the game, because we all know that that was a BAD-ASS intro for a BIG reveal (that a LOT of us already knew was Ekko, btw) of a CHAMPION ON LEAGUE OF LEGENDS named EKKO, who is a time mage champion who REWINDS TIME in the game, and who is punk and even has a Part in a "CHAMPION MUSIC SKIN LINE" where he is in a band called "TRUE DAMAGE", and he RAPS!

And yes, rewinding time is Ekko's thing. lol
Which is why he anticipates Jinx, and everyone else's moves ahead of time.

So that is why it wasn't anywhere else in the show thus far, is because this is an ALREADY established part of the EKKO Champion and his character, so they were establishing this for all of us that already know the game and the lore.

    …sigh. 🤦‍♂️

  3. A lot of these characters are in the game now, so I don't know if it's better that you guys don't know who's in the games which would decide who would live and who dies. But it will be cool at the end of this series if you guys kind of like look at the roster of the games and kind of see where some of the characters evolve into

  4. As mentioned, Jinx straight out killed one of Ekko's people (pink haired girl) right in front of him in episode 4 on the airship, not to mention at least 4 more Fire Lights. If Marcus wasn't working for Silco, the Cate and Ekko thing on the bridge likely would have worked out.

  5. Edit: After reading the comments on here, alot of spoilers in there.

A couple of things based on the discussion. I'm one of the ones who found both hiphop additions jarring, on my first watch, because I didn't see it coming, in second watch, it actually fits perfectly. The second one becomes less jarring due to the presence of the intro, and the intro is less jarring once you realize that it's an introduction to the firelights. The firelights are a third faction, their own thing, revolting against both the corruption and piltover and zaun, in that sense, the hip hop music fits well as it's often used to represent political resistance, and in this scenario, the firelights are the resistance. It's also your tease to know that the masked man is Ekko. if you play league you will know Ekko has a true damage skin (that's actually my profile photo) where he is a rapper. Ekko's regular theme in sprinkled throughout this Episode, once when he first appeared, and another when he gets the gem back. The rap parts are a homage to his true damage counter part, as Ekko has dreads here like his true damage skin, rather than a regular mohawk as seen in his regular skin.

Also on whether or not they should've add that Jinx scene. I believe they definitely have, because it served to establish important aspects of both Jinx and Silco's character, that a simple timeskip would not have done justice. The fact that Jinx lashes on to Silco(the first person she sees after Vi leaves), showcases her instability and need for affection. It also establishes something major, Silco doesn't abduct Jinx, but Jinx CHOOSES Silco, which is Ekko's point this episode, she could've fought with them, but she chose to be with Silco, why is this important? Because as Jinx hugs Silco, we see his facial expression as he sees Vander's dead body, this isn't the face of someone looking to manipulate someone, it establishes that Silco is asking out of care for Jinx and his relation to him, the similarity they have, than an attempt to manipulate a little girl. We would not have gotten that with a simple timeskip. It's also gives legway for a very important quote, wherein Silco says, "We will show them, we will show them all", which are the first words Silco says to Jinx as he hugs her tightly in return and embraces her.

  6. It's not only because Ekko want to be sure the gemmestone deal goes like it should, that he suggested to give the gemmestone himself. If the leader of the Firelight return the gemmestone, he could not only clear his name and his people, but that would cement him a position to speak to the council itself, and thus, bringing real change. It opens doors.
And he knows that Caitlyn, a Piltover cop, could arrange that. It's not just her discourse, but the fact that Vi acknowledge that Caitlyn is a good person, which keeps her promises, and can bring him to the council.

  7. I can definitely agree with initially watching this and feeling like the music from the start felt a bit out of place, and that perhaps even the music from the fight felt out of place. For me I was anticipating a much more somber tear jerking track as these kids that grew up together tried to kill each other.

I can say that both of these have grown on me quite a bit, but that I would still prefer something that more matched the mood I anticipated.

  8. well hip hop was to talk about society and discrimination and the intro talk about this.
It's a very serious intro actually it show how the fireflights are fighting againt silco and piltover, not just with their fists but with hip hop.

  9. It never really goes into detail and I am sure someone has commented this already but if not, The reason ekko couldn't finish it is because he saw powder there. he had a crush on her when they were kids. there is a voice line in game thats something like ' i had a crush once, until she started talking to guns'

  10. personally I think that jinx didn't take the last shot because she also remembered how her and Ekko were best friends when they were little. I think at that moment she felt that all that she had loved was now gone. So she was ready to end it all.

  11. Both Jinx and Ekko didn't go through with their final shots. In their childhood memories, Jinx shot 4 times and 4th bullet was the one that hits Ekko but in real time…she didn't shoot the 4th bullet. And same for Ekko, he didn't hit the final punch. Even before Jinx blows the bomb, she had a little smile remembering their childhood knowing that Ekko liked her and had a crush on her(as powder).

  13. I had goosebumps as soon as Ekko's LoL theme from his music video started playing during that bridge sequence….and then followed by dynasties and dystopia from the arcane soundtrack…… What a cool sequence that was, goddamn!

  14. I don't think that was as much jinx putting on an innocent look as her knowing that she was beaten and just panicking, and then when he pauses she realizes he still deep down cares for her because they were good friends as kids, but she knows things have gone too far to go back so just pulls the pin

  15. Regarding Ekko vs. Jinx scene, I truely think the emotions on Jinxs face were genuine and not some sort of trick to gain the upper hand, it was the emotions of someone who was willing to die at that moment, it was fear, sadness, shame and regret. I think its the last time we see some semblance of Powder, …just two childhood friends looking at eachother for one last time. A tragic and masterful scene..

  16. I'm gonna defend Caitlyn with her speech. Yeah, Ekko's lived through it. But for Caitlyn, as a topsider, it's her first time experiencing seeing all the horror for the first time. She's saying those things with a perspective of a topsider which they haven't really had. Was she wrong tho? After the cycle of violence never stopping if they Ekko choose to weaponize the gemstone? You may treat her argument as something that is less that of Ekko's. But it's genuine. The show portrayed Cait as someone who's empathetic to the people of the undercity. She even hugged a person from the dirtiest part of the undercity. (the guy with glasses in ep6).

  17. I disagree with the music thing completely you make very valid points in a general sense but at no point that I feel like the music was misplaced they are rebellious group and if you listen to the lyrics of the song it was a very rebellious song and then the last song that they played which was fire might I add same scenario if you listen to the lyrics it Flow perfectly with the scene. The rap thing and black people is what it is doesn't mean that anything negative has to come from it.
