I'm in 40k mainly for the hobby of painting and then the beer and predzel part of playing. Crusade is great. Just need to not care who wins. It's a great game to argue over lol
You would think of that the plastic the models are made out of ivory from elephant plated in Platinum with the prices.
GW might as well call there editions "we didnt test play this before release"
you can sum-up what the Sound Alchemist say with 3 ways G.W. is doing some bad business practice:
1) price hikes
2) PAY TO WIN
i would also add to G.W:
3) scarce marketing
4) physical version of a dlc/season pass practice -> because players always are required to continue buying rule books, very specific models and paint just so their armies will be updated to the current state of the 40k lore
Love the game and lore but ………
It’s a shady scam .
They treat the community like poop, and take every penny they can .
Great channel
Awesome 👍
The way it is, yea, they are.
New editions in a way are like patch updates to a video game, some nerfing, some bug fixes, new characters, abilities, new skins, maybe a new romance here and there….you know the usual.
However, how GW set's up their marketing with investments in armies, price of models, needing data cards, point usage, ect. It seems more like a person who wants to play the physicals game needs to consider if it's even worth it with the changes because by the time you fork over the money for your codex's, dice, data cards, army, ect. A new edition is just on the horizon.
I will say this. I’ve only started playing this year. I’ll say this about pricing. It doesn’t feel like boxes for armies aren’t priced according to how useful they are. I’ve been building a space wolves army bc that what I started with and I’ve thought about making a IG army and boxes are practically the same in price for what are essentially much weaker units in regards to imperial guards. I’ve bought 2 different boxes of Space wolves and split an Indomitus box with a friend now going to buy the newest holiday space marine box for $210. So all in all I’ve spent around $625 on this army and I’ve got a pretty solid list tho not crazy competitive. BUT if I want to build IG, my buddy priced it out for me, and it would be about $900 dollars bc IG armies need so many models. Am I crazy or does it feel like this isn’t fairly priced based on unit cost and ability in game?
I’m a Space Wolves player and I found it EXTREMELY annoying that they would came out with this amazing Saga of the Beast expansion that not only gave us an amazing new model for Ragnar but gave us new strategems that were amazing for Thunderwolf cavalry, but 6 months later after hardly seeing any play time bc of the pandemic was tossed out the window with 9e.
I really hate how the game have been simplified since 8th. I liked tank facing, armor values, scattering deep strike, and actual Morale impact in the game… I know that there were flaws (super Decurion-type formations, for instance), but for me 7th was the most tactical edition, ruined by GW greed to make people to buy formations.
8th and 9th are editions for kids that want to throw some dice.
Gw: oh you like this game, get the new thing it's just the old thing but everything is different. You have older stuff GET RID OF IT, you need the new thing.
i don't like huge change and money that one has to pour again. but then i ask myself how to do it otherwise?
we need updated rules. you have to release new rules, you have to make sure everyone is at same page with current rules, etc. having to buy new Rule book gives us good referee point and reason to learn new edition.
we need keep game of not going stagnant but not allow power creep. Hard Reset is good instead of Additions which would go for Power Creep.
after new Edition comes. why not keep same codexs? because they was mentally designed for different game. why we need up to date rules. we are seeing effects of it now in 9th.
is it annoying buy new BRB and Codex? Yes.
can we do better? Yes. I see better option have free service with option to pay for codexs and get Core Rules free and have notions for changes such as FAQs, maybe also payment to Unlock full rules of edition to bring awareness.
last part sounds like they are approaching but availability and functionality is bad.
i didn't see need to buy Primaris in 8th edition and i didn't feel need to update my army in 9th.
7:09. For me, I quit years ago. I cannot remember for sure what edition the game was on when I stopped playing the game, but I do know it was a few years after the Necron were introduced properly to the game, with a full army list and Codex out. I know I started playing with 2nd edition, then moved to third, cannot remember if I gave 4th edition a try. I just found the whole game too complex and expensive, so in the end I stopped playing and just focused on the lore and stories.
8:24. Let’s just be honest here: this is the true reason for the existence of Primaris Marines. It’s not to further the story, it’s to further enlarge GW’s wallet.
Yes they are! That was the main reason why I left many years ago
ARMIES!
SAY IT WITH ME….
"ARMIES!"
3 – 41K 9TH EDITION
3- 30K HORUS HERESY
Sleep is for the WEAK!
fatigue is for "PATHETIC'S!"
NOW SAVE UR TEARS AND PAINT UR MODELS IF THEY SUCK TODAY THEY MIGHT NOT TOMORROW
Been playing since 3rd edition. Have lots of models. Have codexes going way back. Getting sick of buying new codexes for almost all the armies out every three years. They cost a lot and the price is only going up from nosebleed heights. Thinking about sticking with 30k. At least I have the books.
New editions have been bad for this game since 4th. Every single one of them. Considering the Eldar's main HQ units are from 2nd edition, GE suck at making good decisions about the game.
Each edition has some things that improve, and some things that screw up, the game. This is done on purpose, and has driven me away from the hobby several times. Got so frustrated I quit for 8 years, only coming back during lockdown.
i wonder if they make a gijoe game the toys are way cheaper and more articulated , love the warhammer fantasy and 40k lore i read lots of pdf when i can about it :=), but the tiny miniatures prices are a outrageous as a toy collector i rather to play online games base on that lore
