Apex Legends is a battle royal game in which up to 20 three-man squads land on an island before searching for weapons and supplies to then attempt to defeat all other players in combat. The final team alive wins the round. The game is set in the same sci-fi universe as Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall franchise.

Unlike other prominent battle-royal games, Apex Legends is also similar to “hero shooters”, in that it allows the player to choose from a selection of player characters before each round, each with a unique set of skills. The characters are known as “legends” within the game.[2]

The game focuses heavily on teamwork and includes a much praised system of nonverbal communication, known as “Pinging”, which allows players to use their game controller in order to communicate to their team things like directions, weapon locations, enemies and suggested strategies.[3]

Using the “Ping” command will create an icon (a so-called Ping) to appear at the location where the player is looking which is accompanied by an appropriate voice line from the player’s in-game character. The Ping will be visible to the player as well as their teammates for a short duration. The Ping icon defaults to a “Go” command, which suggests to the squad an area to explore. However, if the player is looking at something specific (such as a weapon or a piece of equipment) then the Ping icon will change contextually to highlight the presence and location of that object.[4]

The Ping command system also has more advanced functionalities, such as tapping the Ping command twice in quick succession to highlight enemies, holding down the Ping command to bring up more detailed options, Pinging when you need ammunition or equipment, context-based Pings which are unique to characters within the game, and being able to respond to or cancel prior Pings.[4]

  1. I still think it's funny how "you survived" is what triggers her realization and not Ash's name and how super obvious it was Reid when she quotes something she heard Lilian said in front of both of them.

  2. Horizon can't be mad at Ash now, she's almost a completely different person (With the memories of Ashley Reed)! Remember Crow in Destiny 2 season of the Lost? He used to be Uldren Sov. as Uldren Sov, he committed many sins, on top of all killing Cayde, which drove us to the point where we hunted him down and killed him. Then he was resurrected as Crow, his memories wiped completely. (Spoiler alert if you haven't played this part yet………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………You've been warned!) Savathun then gave Crow his memories back, but he hates who he used to be! Can he be judged as Uldren should now?
And now we have a similar situation here with Ash (Atleast if she hates her past self), she has been given her memories back, but she's someone else now. Can Horizon judge Ash for the sins of her past now?

If you have info that can disprove my point here, please share it in the forums.

P.S: More importantly, was my grammar correct?

  3. I believe the writers wanted revenant to try to save ash out of mercy, not because he thought he was killing horizons friend, I personally love the idea of revenant being merciful in this situation because it makes complete sense, he knows the hell that comes with a sim realising what they are and wants to spare her that pain. I'm glad to see the next legend is actually going to take themselves seriously, something we haven't had properly for a good while. Love your content, good shit 🙂

  4. It’s interesting how revenant (in his own way) tried to protect Reid from the horror that comes with becoming self aware again. Despite the fact that he tried to kill her…in his eyes, it’s probably for the best sort of like how the red skull leads others to a gift he himself cannot poses.

  5. So Revenant is the one who cracked her face? But wait, she's been displayed with a cracked face for quite some time before now…

Also how could she remember the Olympus access codes if her memories were suppressed by the Simulacrum program?

Side question: when Caustic applied to the Simulacrum program but was rejected, was he aware that it would entail the loss of his memory and free will? You'd think someone like him would know that. This Simulacrum thing worked well with Revenant but now it feels like a retcon.

  6. I honestly think it makes total sense, Rampart said something that activated 'Ash', why she went and created the arenas because that's what the Predator Ash would do. This code however lifts the veil and she is now Ashley Reid, or the skeleton of her. I honestly think Revenant was trying to stop Horizon, not kill her or her friend. He put the pieces together on what Horizon was doing, and by chance it involved another Sim. I think he was truly trying to save Ash–another Sim–from waking up and suffering what's to come.

  7. Nah nah nah Revenant was trying to save Ash from the hell of being a Sim. He wasn’t trying to get back at Horizon, he was trying to save Ash because apparently, according to shadow Revenant, he’s becoming a ‘saviour of simulacrums’ ergo, he doesn’t want them condemned to the same torture as him. He’s still a bad guy but at least he looks out for his own kind.
