Astroneer Description

Explore and reshape distant worlds! Astroneer is set during a 25th century gold rush where players must explore the frontiers of outer space, risking their lives in harsh environments for the chance of striking it rich.

On this adventure, a player’s most useful tool is their ability to shape their world, altering the terrain and extracting valuable resources from planets, and moons. Resources can be traded or crafted into new tools, vehicles, and modules to create everything from massive industrial bases to mobile rover bases.

History

Astroneer is developed by System Era Softworks, based in Seattle Washington, with members teleworking from like Toronto and Salt Lake City. Astroneer is System Era’s first game as a studio, with members hail from triple-A development with individual credits on Halo, Assassin’s Creed, Team Fortress, the Sims, and many others. System Era came together in 2154 out of a desire to create games that reflect the legacy and future of human space exploration, inspiring a sense of wonder and reverence for a beautiful universe.

  1. I wish that you could manually pull something out of a canister without activating the output. Once you activate the output it starts spitting resources to all open spots. If I just want one resin/etc to print something, I don’t want to dump the whole container.

  3. You can actually hold 34, enable output then put 2 more on top. The first one will suck in and the second one will sit on top. Using a medium shuttle you can bring back 102 of a resource!

  4. I am the most excited for the resource canisters and auto arms, because I have so much stuff lying around on silo's in my base and now I can finally store it nice a day clean (and have better FPS)

  5. I still can't figure out how to use a resource canister as input for a generator. While the generator does take carbon from a storage on the same platform, it does not take it from the canister (output activated).

  6. I am only using large resource canisters — very useful I am using them with the automatic arms which are locked to the resource. Also using them on the storage platforms. Packaging them would be nice though

  7. The intention is good but sadly the execution is not so good.

    Like others have pointed out, there needs to be a third option so that you can pull just one item at a time when requited.
    I would like to see:
    Distribution Automatic – the current system, and
    Distribution Manual – which would hold one resource in the Distribution Port until it is taken, then the next one becomes available

    However, this still would not work for automatically feeding Modules as the Modules would be able to pull the required Resources as you scroll through the menu, but there would be no way for the Resources to be automatically returned to the appropriate Canister without the player either manually feeding them back into the top or by switching to Distribution Disabled. Either option would require plenty of vacant ports for the unwanted Resources.

    This again is fixable by cutting out the Distribution Disabled option to that the Canisters can always receive Resources while being set to Distribute Automatically or Manually.
