  1. hopefully a lot of the weak presentation gets fixed in the next six months (since it IS in an alpha state, look at the title). the game looks competently made enough but theres a lot of flaccidity to the animations and a severe lack of soundtrack and style makes the game feel very sterile compared to the l4d games. the bloody screen effect in particular looks ugly, the machete animation connected with the zombies is honestly awful (l4d2 has amazing physicality when it comes to how melee connects due to the strong and physical gore and the punchy and satisfying sound effects, which this doesnt have), and the designs to the characters and infecteds just dont seem to have much of an interesting personality to them either (the special infecteds in particular just look fucking bad jesus, completely unmemorable designs, i can see them being hard to call out in game if this ends up being the final product).

game feels like its drowning in an attempt to be serious and more grounded, i get no personality or sense of humor from this preview that i do with something like 10 minutes of left 4 dead 2, which is a bad sign when youre making a spiritual successor to l4d2 which worked so well because it was a game that was fun to play with friends, not a dead serious survival horror game. still, for an alpha this seems competent and maybe even decently fun, hopefully they fix it up in the future.

  2. Looks like Left 4 dead but way worse. I don't get how they can copy Valve this easily tho. Shitty devs, they made that Evolve game that was shitty and full of microtransactions. Here's hoping this game flops and all the devs get fired and become homeless

  3. Ah yes, L4D needed perk cards, equipment, ranked gear, money, vendors, and the characters being lobotomized into quips with no personality. And it's really, REALLY so obviously 1 for 1. IT's not a boomer it's a wretch! Oh that one? It's not a spitter it's a Hocker! Oh the tank? we turned it into a bossfight and called it an OGRE. It's not Car alarms, it's birds, and cars explode because what I want in my game where I unload 5 America's worth of ammo into a horde of monsters is the chance for everything to fucking blow up.

  4. some people are defending this because its an alpha but it worries me that they already unveiled their seasons pass and special editions before showing a good gameplay

  5. For an alpha i'd say its looking good. Gameplay systems, which are arguably the most important thing, are there and good. They just need to refine the animations, which is exactly what you'd expect from an alpha. Let's just hope that they don't fill this with microtransactions.
