  1. Quick disclaimer, when talking about the fighter, you kept mentioning racial weapon proficiencies, but if you're a Fighter you start off with martial weapon proficiency so racial proficiencies become redundant and don't matter anymore when it comes to choosing a race for fighter

same thing with ranger, rangers get martial weapons so high elf weapon proficiencies don't matter

  2. you dont get any bonuses from beeing proficant in your highest ability skills. you just get (in first level) +2 on rolls for that skill so why are you recomanding to just take proficancy in skills you have a high ability score in. you just can take skills in which you have a low ability score so you balance out your negativ skill bonus. sure most of the time you take the skills for your best ability scores but you dont have to like you can play a wizzard and still be stealthy. read the dnd rules – you dont get any more benefits from it just take what you think your character should be good at

  3. As a general rule for character creation, not taking into account specific classes, it's always safe to have Con and Dex as secondary stats. E.g. medium armor users want 14 Dex exactly because it gives them the max allowable bonus to their AC of +2. So aiming for 14 in Dex and Con isn't bad, and quite doable if you're getting a +1 or +2 to them from racial bonuses. For a video game like this specifically, Perception checks are the most common so try to get proficiency in it whether that comes from the background you select or as an allowed choice for your class.

  4. is there a way to have your party immersively walk? or are we forced to watch the party move around like squirrels on cocaine, even in cramped up spaces like, trap filled dungeons? I would assume that given the amount of work put into creating an apparently immersive experience, they would overlook something as basic as that….also, all footage i have seen takes place during day time. Any night time gameplay? you know, typical baldur's gate stuff like getting some drinks at the local village tavern and meeting interesting side quest opportunities?

  5. In 5e having a 17 in one your ability scores has no more benefit than a 16. Are you planning on spreading out later ASIs or using the odd number to round to a even number with certain feats? Or does this game work differently than pen and paper?

  6. Warlock: Fiend.
Nope, Dark Ones Blessing is Temporary HP, it won't heal you. Temp HP Act as a "Shield" that the damage will hit before your Real HP. Also doesn't stack (although if you Gain 3 Temp HP, get hit for 1 damage, leaving you 2 Temp HP, knocking out another guy will replace your 2 HP Shield, with a fresh 3 HP one). Really not as useful as it feels, and the spells from Elder might be more with taking.

  7. I play Dwarf knight ranger with Beast master subclass plus 2 strength and 2 cons, resist poison and resist fire. And when you can cast Hunter mark combo with Hex if your party have Warlock and its fun, you also have your beast pet can do something aid you in combat. Also you can cast a few spell support you.

The lack of the class is dwarf movement only 7,5m each turn instead 9m like other races but with high strength you can jump jump jump and its done. I think its not strong like Battle master Fighter but it fun if you want to play a character with multi class.

P.s: Dwarf Ranger focus on melee combat, not good with ranged weapon like dex ranger, but he can stealth also.

  8. Nice guide, one thing of note: dex is very power as a stat in 5e rules (tbh, too powerful). Fighters can go dex build with rapier and do just as well in melee as a front liner. My lvl3 HE EK with 17 dex and +1 leather armor has 18AC with a shield. He can switch to bow and he just as effective when it comes to damage.. High elf is a natural selection for EK, and you can turn it into the ultimate tank with spells like bladeward.

  9. wow, i feel old. i was role playing the first basic edition that came out around 1980. How many editions of D&D has TSR created that change the game in prder to get gamers to buy the next new edition? they know their target audience. Hell, I was happy playing the first edition of AD&D.

  10. Something very important is since they are using the point buy system the "+2 is best" is far from absolute" as the stat cap is 20 and unless you want a feat your main stat being 16 will end up being 20 by the time you hit lvl 8 (once they allow that) the only thing the big min max allows you to do is having with some very spefic race/class combo 18 in two stats at lvl 4 however since reason 17 at the start cost you more build points you are also gimping your other stats. With alot of the saving throws in this game having something like low wisdom can be very detrimental. This is why humans and half elf are very good as human don't need to worry about stats since they get +1 in everything (this will actually give more over the board stats as the way point buy work is the more you spend the more expensive it gets) and similarly with half elf since they can choose two stats to get +1 on top of theyre +2 to charisma so its very easy for both of those races to get 2x 16 and 2x 14 on your character sheet right off the bat rather then only having 2 good stats and the rest is dumped at 10 and under. Edit: The reason why this is important info is your stats only give you bonus every even number having a stat at an odd number is only useful if you plan on raising it and another odd stats at level 4 for a quick boost.

  11. When the game officially comes out (hopefully all the main races comes back) I’m going to be playing a Dragonborn Tempest Cleric! And my character will always try and act like a hero to everyone except the shorter races. Which he will consistently be a dick to.
