In this Baldur’s Gate 3 Build Guide I’m going to be covering my Cleric Build for Early Access, and showing you what I’ve found to work best. I’ll be doing more Build Guides at the launch of Baldur’s Gate 3, but for now, let’s look at how you can use an Cleric effectively in the first Act of the game.

Cleric is actually one of the more potent damage dealers in tabletop 5e but because of the current lack of spiritual weapon which is their bread and butter low level dps spell they’ve somewhat fallen behind other classes in early access
It's not "regulated" it's "relegated" 👌 Good guide, as always!
There's something really important about Bane that you didn't mention!
Bane also nerfs enemy saving throws, so it actually increases your chances to hit with spells like Sacred Flame that target Dexterity.
Basically, use Bless to buff your weapon or spell attacks, use Bane to (effectively) buff your spell DC. You probably want to stick to one or the other.
Wizard build soon?
I like the concept. HW poison into attack is nice af. Gotta try this
Honestly one of the most accurate and helpful guides I've seen. The only thing I'll mention is prepared spells can be swapped at anytime they dont require a rest in BG3.
That or chose half elf high elf subclass and grab firbolt cantrip
Cleric using a longbow and short sword? That's blasphemy!
they need to fix heavy armor.
The words cleric and dps should never be combined together except in the sentence "The cleric heals the dps" and even that is stretching because no good group should need it.
With potions and food, I also do not prepare Cure Wounds.
I do use Aid and sometimes Prayer of Healing if needed.
i have a note for you on cleric level 3. Light clerics only get darkvision and scorching ray as domain spells. Aid and lesser restoration are what Life clerics get.
Fck the elven. Gimme the sons of Gruumsh
im playing this while waiting for paladin to be in game. probably oath of vengeance
1:18 re-le-gate
My build for cleric, either light or life, is human. They have +1 to all stats which means you can get 15 str and 16 wis. Then I sacrifice the +2 at 4th level to take heavy armor, that bumps str +1 and you get heavy armor proficiency (for some reason life domain cleric does not have heavy armor proficiency as they should for instance). So my stats at 4th level are str 16 dex 9 con 14 int 10 wis 16 cha 14. I really like proficiency in insight and persuasion as you can pass a number of charisma checks with breeze without using the illithid tadpole.
Also even if you don't bump str into 16 like I did you can get the mace that does faarie fire. Its really good as it illuminates the enemies you hit and you don't need the spell like the light domain has.
I have a huge problem with my tiefling and the level 4 because went I try to level up 3-4 I already have the two optional cantrips so I can’t. Someone know something that I can do ??
What's the point of using guiding bolt if your longbow hits harder anyway?
forgot to mention if the target is prone-d sacred flame get 100% hit chance ^^
Great build. Between this and WolfheartFPS's Ranger Knight I'm having a blast with this game 🙂
Next time you record your VO remember "relegated" and "regulated" are words with different meanings!
I want to play a light cleric but with a good ol mace, using strenght instead of dex. But I find it a bit odd that dex is used for my armor, and strenght for my weapon … And I don't want to be a life cleric to have a heavy armor .. hmm Maybe a feat could help me to get heavy armor proficiency. Or I keep an intermediate armor with only 10 dex.. ?
Will play with the close necrose spell thing anyway
I just want a light cleric with a MACE
Would love to use it but at lvl 4l evel up it get stuck. I for some reason have no cantrip to pick. So I cannot level up.
welcome, people with no common sense XD
