Baldur's Gate 3 – Let's Play Part 3: Goblin Attack

From the creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2 begins the start of a next-generation RPG, set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons. Gather your party, and return to the Forgotten Realms in a tale of fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power..
Though each of you differ in innumerable ways, one thing binds you all together: a parasite planted in your brains. With it comes mysterious abilities, but also the looming threat of gruesome transformation into a Mind Flayer. Resist, and turn darkness against itself. Or embrace corruption, and become ultimate evil.

Baldurโ€™s Gate 3 is an expansive, cinematic, player-driven RPG based on 5e D&D. It features a rich character creation system where players can create an avatar based on many different D&D races, select their cantrips, skills & abilities, and enter a world where their actions truly define the story.

Baldurโ€™s Gate 3 expands on Larianโ€™s award-winning narrative gameplay both through the advent of cinematic storytelling, and with dice-rolls for key decisions throughout the game, in and out of combat. Dialogue options often have multiple responses, and some responses may require a dice roll to succeed, defined by both luck as well as the attributes of the player character, or circumstances of the situation.

No one play-through will be like another playerโ€™s, with a massively branching narrative and meaningful reactions to player actions, and happenings. It features a fluid, high-stakes turn-based combat system incorporating the rules of 5e D&D.

  1. I donโ€™t want to be โ€œthatโ€ guy, but I recommend you spam uploads of this game. Itโ€™s hugely anticipated and compared to everything else thatโ€™s being released prior to the new consoles, really seems to have the most buzz. Not to mention its fantastic commentary.

  2. Hey bro I know itโ€™s late but congratulations on your son, I have four kids of my own and itโ€™s the greatest thing. Also Iโ€™ve been loving your content for awhile now and just wanted to say your one of the best, again congrats

  3. I remember playing the first when I was a kid. I think it started with you being clubbed and in a sewer system I think thatโ€™s how it started anyway. I just remember a load of rats and there was a pub. I used to be the lady with the bow. I also remember playing one that was in a ice land setting but I didnโ€™t play that one much. Honestly I canโ€™t believe the name is still going.
Edit: I canโ€™t remember much about it I just know that pub but had me stuck for a while I was around 5-6 at the time and did not have the attention span for a game like that.
Edit2: Right I had a look at the first one and it looked nothing like I remember but I know 100% I played Baldurโ€™s gate a lot as a kid turns out it was called Baldurโ€™s gate Dark alliance. (I wish I still had it so I could go back and beat it)

  4. I dont know how much youve already played and recorded but little tip. You can use action surge to attack twice in a single turn. But if it holds true to the game like dnd, its a once a day thing. Maybe a once a combat thing in the game

  5. The thing I'm really looking forward to in this game is that Larian is finding ways to implement a lot of spells that other D&D CRPG adaptations leave out. Take Create Water for example, it serves almost no purpose in most D&D CRPGs but Larian realized "No wait you can put out fires with it". Feather Fall is another spell that always gets scrapped because most D&D CRPGs relegate themselves to a simple flat isometric grid. But BG3 introduces these layers of verticality to the level design. This means that not only can Feather Fall be used for exploration but it can be used tactically in combat, you can cast it on yourself during a battle if you're worried about being knocked off a ledge or cast it on yourself and then hop down from a ledge to back up another character. God I'm so fucking stoked.

  6. Laez'el really sort of nails what I'd imagine a githyanki would act like…

    Militant? Check.
    Zealous? Check.
    Elitist? Check.

…in short, a bit of an itch.

That animation is pretty damn expressive, though…when she describes the bones aching, and the mouths bleeding, her movements really sold the horror…and the voice actress is absolutely slaying it, playing a warrior who believes so much in her cause it makes her seem half-mad.

  7. I dont trust a soul but that's how every great D & D group starts, then in little to no time later, your killing to save them and they are dying to save you… and maybe, just maybe, one of them is sly enough to be the bad guy the whole time. I love these games, narrative driven with very invested combat that makes you wanna do the right thing and the very, very evil thing lol ledge sim incoming though.

  8. Hey I keep watching these videos and wanting to help you with lore and game mechanics though its not my place. Watching you learn this for the first time reminds me when I got in to DND years ago. Keep it up man. Love this so much.

  9. I know, that you don't know, so I can't fault you, but it does still pain my soul. Since you had the 16 in strength, you would have been better off going Sword and Board, or two handed weapons, as your strength is relevant to those weapons. Duel wielding, or rather the weapons you can use while duel wielding, is based off Dex.
…atleast in the tabletop game it is, idk how much gets translated.

  11. I play open world games much like you do! I canโ€™t stand having a mountain I canโ€™t climb or a lake I canโ€™t dive into or a house I canโ€™t poke around in. It seems to me that if some dev has spent time creating an area it deserves to be explored, thoroughly! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
