  1. I'm so curious about why Shar is interested in the box, and I wonder how it might be connected to the rest of the story. Ethel mentions that the tadpole has been tampered with shadow magic, and Gale has his little sliver of shadow magic in him, so maybe the box has something to do with that as well?

  2. Yo Harbs, I played a githyanki cleric of Selune, Shadowheart's idealised foe!
I'm quite certain it's an infernal puzzle box, too. It is an artefact made of "blackened iron" of similar size, after all.

The game files were apparently datamined for what the thing inside it actually is…

  3. I get the impression part of Lae'zel's story arc will involve her coming to terms with the truth about ther beloved Vlaakith and choosing a side. Can't help but wonder if Vlaakith is involved with the Absolute, with her wanting to attain godhood. Hmmm….

  4. In the game, the 'box' appears in my inventory as soon as Shadowheart joins my party. Maybe Larian were worried that players would miss it if it just stayed in Shadowheart's inventory.
Great video – the Tiamat contract is plausible. The real question is indeed what Shar wants with it and I look forward to that video.

  5. Hey, love your channel and all the lore you can bring! Truly amazing, thanks! However as a French I have sometimes difficulties to understand you well. Do you think you could speak a bit slower with more articulation? You would definitely increase your audience and share broader your precious knowledge 😉

  6. If I'm not mistaken the Absolute is also looking for that box, right?
The followers you meet on the road (with the dead dwarf whose tadpole crawls out of his eye) were looking to kill survivors from the crash, likely to retrieve the weapon.
I really wonder how a holy mission for Shar, the Absolute, and this Gith artifact are tied together

What's with that "hmm" at the end of the video? Is it referring to the onyx ring?
It's probably of no meaning but I always associate onyx rings with Sendai, one of The Five from Throne of Bhaal who uses her ring during the boss battle with all those statues. After the fight you can loot an onyx ring from each of the defeated statues

  7. Well they refer to it as a weapon, so either its just another Tadpole (the one from where all the other tadpoles were made, like the one's in the player's head)
or its the control mechanism for the current tadpoles, (keeping them dormant while still giving the power and such)

  8. At 8:30, the Gith commander say "Yet you still retrieved our Queen's weapon." So … how is the puzzle box a weapon if it is some sort of a contract? Or a soul? Good point about the fact that they called it a "box" – so it is likely a puzzle box. But that does not sound like a weapon (to my untrained ear, anyway) 🙂 PS: I found that onyx ring … now I am wondering if it is more important than it looks. Perhaps the "point" is a piece of another "puzzle box"?

  9. Pretty cool and well-based video, man! You got a new subscriber 🙂
I love d&d lore, I mean, I love heavy nerdy lore in general hahaha, and I'm glad Larian is focusing on that. I love the Divinity games, but making a deep story wasn't their thing until now, I hope this change for Baldur's Gate 3

  10. I wonder if it's Vlaakith's Phylactery. Being a lich, she'd need one to survive, and that could be a powerful artifact or weapon depending on who has it. Something living inside it could reference a lich's soul, but I don't know. maybe that's reaching.
