  1. Great vid as usual. Some excellent tips. I told u I was struggling with the inferno hence why I chose to skip it but your hanging low strat makes for a much easier time. Great tip. The steelbeaks I couldn't work out a timing for they are a nightmare tho I first one is an excellent place to farm an extra life as u get 5000 points each time and he infinitely respawns, you just stay behind him. If u die u get the 1up anyway

  2. The clinger winger stage is what got me into CRTs and original hardware. I couldn't beat it with emulatuon because of the input lag but with original hardware and a crt I was able to beat it easily. I did a YouTube video on it.

Are you playing on a crt?

  3. Theres actually a quicker and easier way to finish the 4th room of Karnath's Lair (stage 6). If you climb the yellow-pink snake to the top, when he moves right, you can run and jump to the right over the spikes at the top and fall into the exit.

  4. New viewer here. The algorithm fed me your TMNT video, which was good btw, so I wanted to see what your latest was! The only comment I have is in your presentation early on in this video. You can tell that you're putting on some sort of "voice" with your intonation, up until roughly 8:48. It's around here you become more relaxed and natural sounding. My suggestion is that you drop the "voice" you're shooting for in the early parts. Just speak naturally, as you do throughout the rest of the video. You sound great and your passion for the game comes through. You have a great narration voice when you're relaxed! It's just a suggestion, regardless, your videos are informative and very detailed! Also, the audio quality was a major step up between the TMNT video and this one!

  5. Just found this channel last night, I love the content so far! If I could suggest a game I'd love to see Guardian Legend at some point! Looking forward to watching all your videos!

  6. So at about 13 I played this game. I was determined to beat it. So I played the speeder level, over and over again and learned the patterns exactly. Then in a moment of perfection, while my two friends watched, I beat the level, on first try. My friends were elated, I was a true gaming hero. In a fit of joyous celebration I leapt up to cheer at my victory, which lifted my NES up off the ground and slammed it back down causing the blue screen of death. I never played Battle Toads again.

  7. I have just stumbled upon this channel of yours and started going through your videos and I have to say that this content is just amazing.
Like, it is right up my alley.
It reminds me a bit of those old "How to Beat" type of VHS tapes from the 80/90s but these are way more thorough and actually take you through the whole thing while revealing all kinds of cool trivia along the way. It's kinda surreal.
Had these videos been released back when I was a kid, I can tell it's the kind of stuff I would have watched on repeat, even if I had never played the games in question.
This will definitely be one of the channels I'll keep a closer look at in the future.

As for Battletoads, I didn't own it myself back in the day but I did have a friend who had it and we would sometimes play it but like you said in your video, like many other kids we could never get past the Turbo Tunnel part.
It's crazy to think that developers back then would purposely create so many cool levels and technically impressive gimmick, only to make the early game so cruelly hard that many players would be lucky to even see half of it.
One funny piece of trivia I recently learned of was that just before you kick enemies with your big boot, the game will pause for a second. I always thought that was just solely for dramatic effect but it is in fact the game loading a sound sample to play for the kick.

Fantastic video, mate. And gosh darn impressive to see deathless run with a maxed-out score to boot.
Maybe one day I'll be able to at least complete it too. One can dream xD
Can't wait to see what game you'll be tackling next.
If I may suggest a really great, yet underappreciated game, I would pick Ufouria: The Saga from Sunsoft. It's a really cool Metroidvania kinda game. I recently worked on a hack for it, so I've had to go through it a couple of times as a result and it's definitely the kind of game where a guide could be handy on your first go.
Either that or Bionic Commando 🙂

  9. The game came out in 1991. I remember renting it later that year. Our mom naught the game Christmas of 1992. My brother passed this game in February, 1993. He needed my help to pass the winger clinger. He couldn’t pass it without me. I discovered the pause trick on that level. This is one of my favorite NES games of all time.

  10. I've been playing this game since the early 90's, and I NEVER knew you could punch out the electric eels in the Terra Tubes! That was the hardest part of that entire stage.
