  1. ALSO NOTE 1: Entering into turn-based mode before combat can help you set-up easier, and it will also keep the buffs on your party up longer (they drain fairly fast in real time)
2: When an enemy is prone only a melee combatant will get advantage on that prone enemy when striking. Ranged attacks against prone enemies have disadvantage.

  2. You can also go back into sneak if you still have the option after moving while out of view to prompt them to "investigate" where you went lol makes for more elaborate set ups and tactics… Took out the entire goblin stronghold with this tactic using my tiefling Warlock with shadowheart's blessing of trickery and a few mist step spells… This is also a combination that works well with the arcane trickster from the rogue subclass

  3. I personally have Shadowheart maintain a Shield of Faith on Laezel : with a shield as such, Laezel walks around with 21 AC. I just need to keep Shadowheart out of harms way (damage = Concentration check). But yes, Bless is excellent also, but AC is just so key.

  4. nice insight, but from experience it isn't always viable. In this location, sure. You can use the surrounding to your advantage and plan your combat a bit more, but there are other locations where the enemy is hidden until you either fail a perception/sneak or enter combat.

I was in one of those locations. Only saw 2 enemies. So I planned for the high ground and moved my party to the locations and started combat. 5 more enemies popped up around me. It wasn't that they were hidden behind objects, it was that they weren't on the map before combat.

All your sneaking and planning wont do much if the game mechanics spawn the enemy when combat starts.

  5. Thanks for this! I'm new to the game and never played D&D so it's a little overwhelming… Currently in the goblin camp struggling a little, with Shadowheart, I can't cast Bless, says I need concentration? How does that work?

  6. Maybe this will answer my questions, I'm not sure if the way I understood it, if this game is like Pathfinder Kingmaker with it's battle system which I hated.
I mean with how much the dice role affects the game.
