⚫️ Despite numerous arrests, detentions and brutality of the police forces, Belarusian journalists continue to report on protests and actions by the authorities, which are aimed at the society calling for a new presidential election.

⚫️ What are the working conditions for journalists?
⚫️ What are they afraid of?
⚫️ How do they deal with censorship and internet shutdowns or disruptions?
⚫️ How does the citizens’ support look like?

These are just some of the questions answered by:

⚫️ The presidential election in Belarus, which took place on August 9, 2020, is a turning point for Belarusian civil society. Since the second half of May, rallies of support for opposition candidates have taken place in the country. The rigged results of the elections and the police aggression that took place between August 9–11 convinced the Belarusians to firmly state: “it’s enough”.

The protests have been going on for the fourth month now.

⚫️ This movie is the first episode of the “Canaries” mini-series. We show the work of independent journalists and the initiatives they create in various countries around the world.

In the first season, we will introduce to you the heroes and heroines from Belarus, Japan and Colombia, among others.

  18. Очень много профессий и компаний показали кто они на самом деле. К журналистам, показывающим правду, появилось огромнейшее уважение. На них реально охотились и охотятся, они неугодны режиму, они показывают миру правду. Да, сейчас у каждого камера в кармане, но настолько крутые кадры, которые будоражат кровь и могут с одного взгляда показать происходящее в стране – это много стоит.
    В новой Беларуси журналистика обязана измениться, за неё перестанут преследовать и начнут показывать по тв, а не только в интернетах)

  36. A po rewolucji czytaj majdanie nastąpi bieda i wszyscy Białorusini do roboty do Polski! Ale uwaga pracy dla tylu narodów w Polsce nie starczy .Zachód ma w dupie wasza demokrację oni chcą waszej gospodarki by kasę doić i waszych ziem lessowych!
