  1. Not sued fined. Still of course it's okay so steal by crime 200 million gets slapped on the wrist for 1 million. Thus crime pays.

As for costs they really are almost none. Yes there is a hefty overhead for games however the cost per copy are negligible thus there really are no local costs per se.

  2. A little bit explanation for people worried about pricing in poorer countries increasing. I found this on a comment on reddit and explains nicely so I'm copying verbatim. We don't know the actual consequence but here goes:-
"Valve is still free to sell the game cheaper in a poorer country. Or more precisely the publisher can choose to sell the game cheaper in a poorer country.
That's not the big issue here. The issue is that if you buy a game in that country, even if it's just an activation key, it also has to work in the rest of the EEA.

What Valve and the publishers do as a consequence of that is up to them. They can choose to just push the game to the same price throughout all of the EEA. Or they can simply suck it up and accept that there are going to be some minor losses from people buying keys in a country where those games are cheaper.

It's honestly not that different from physical sales. Those aren't region locked and if you travel to a country where the game is cheaper and buy the product over there you can take it back home and play the game. This doesn't work with region locked keys and that's jsut not allowed by the EU."

  3. Look, i'm really the last one defending game devs when it comes to game prices, but seriously what the EU wants in this case is completely ridiculous.

"Geo-blocking", are they for f*cking real? I live in germany and if a game i want to buy is cheaper in spain, but will not be cheaper for me, because i buy it on Steam, then so what??
There are other options to get game keys nowadays, platforms which actually also sell Steam keys for frikkin half the price or less even, so why even interrupting the game devs and say:
"uuff noouu, u nu not aloowed to doo dat! NAH AH!" and fine them for the price of a product, which the game devs themselves made and are selling.

This is market-censoring actually. I live in germany and even i say only one thing to this: WTF EU??!

  4. EU is a joke. They fine you for this? But they ignore the practice of microtransaction that EA is doing. This is why of MANY reason I hate EU. EU is just another Empire.

  5. This was a cash grab by the EU. All it will do is guarantee that each of these companies will charge the highest price in all EU countries. They might try to calculate a rate by averaging sales, but I think they'll take the easy route. Either that or they'll just not sell games where they think they'll have to charge significantly prices in different places.
