  1. I feel very positive about it. rF2 has been treading water for a long time now, and they've ridden their top-notch tire model as far as it could carry them while leaving just about everything else a sloppy unfinished mess. Looking forward to what a little more structure and competence does for S397's work.

  2. I really hope they don't switch to UE graphics. Not that you can't do great things with that engine. But it seems more resource heavy than the ISI engine. Also, graphics (on newer content) to me are really good in rF2, it's not a priority.

I also don't think that the physics are broken. They need tweaks in some areas of course, because there are issues. But broken ? No. Not unless all racing sims' physics are considered broken, because in my experience RF2 still has the best model.

Where I think they do really need a helping hand is with the UI, bug fixing in general and building up online gaming and marketing.

My real worry would be that rF2 is put out to grass in favour of licensed one off games like BTCC, WEC etc. There's a real beauty to the AC and RF2 model with healthy modding communities being involved. It would be a real shame to see that die so that someone could make money rebranding a game 7 different ways.

  3. Cant stand with MG's licensing of the 24 hr of lemans potentially getting rid of the event on any other platform. Good for rF2 but not wishing well for MG if im totally honest unless they don't ruin this fun niche hobby with exclusivity deals.

  4. And another one bites the dust.

There goes VR support and overall optimization. Peace out mods and any chance of offering unique content. The things that made sim racing so fun and unique.

But hey, at least rF will get more GT3 cars. That’s what sim racing really needs right now is a clone of ACC. Hopefully all of sim racing gets fully taken over by eSports entities in the future as Id love to be able to race all the same cars on all the same tracks in the few titles that exist in the genre. Cause after all, you aren’t sim racing unless your doing it online in a GT3 car.

  5. Please oh please do NOT use the Unreal Engine, ACC did and it's a PIG, useless in VR and at 4k, it's also a pig. Right now, rFactor2 works well in VR, please don't mess it up, and if you decide to go Unreal Engine… please give us the choice to opt out of the new version and stick with what works well. The Unreal Engine is taking brand new (supposedly fast) hardware and bringing it to it's knees with pathetic unoptimised performance. I know since I have a new Ryzen 5600x CPU and a rx6900xt GPU and ACC is pathetic in VR on that kind of hardware, even at 4K it's not great.

  6. This wasn’t a decision made bc studio 397 was desperate…. the opposite is. 397 did their job in adding market value to rf2 and they were acquired bc people want to extract that value from the product rather than to poach the brand in hopes of duping consumers

  7. just hope they dump the anti consumer pricing model as I refuse to pay for tracks & cars like in iracing as i really would like to try it. gets the tin hat out to protect against the flak lol

  8. I’d like them to get rid of the ridiculous pricing model😒. Shit is actually cancerous on the game’s success, mainly because you can get so much more content from other titles for much cheaper, regardless of how good the tire model is. It’ll essentially stay a tech demo

  9. Unreal engine? NOOOOO… they gotta be f*** kiddin‘!! That makes another title useless (after ACC) because of a terribly performing and sim-unsuiting engine. Goddamned!! Even with a highend PC you do not get the proper FPS!!
