Get two villagers. Create stone bricks to make a hexagon by 2 blocks. Hoe the field and give the village potatoes with a composter. Leave a space for the next villager. Create a minecart to trap the villager. along the chest and put hopper below the chest to receive your potatoes.

Get saplings form the trees and plant them a lot and very close so that you don't travel that far. You will receive a lot of wood. I use the saplings of birch and I got 7 stacks of wood and 31 saplings. You can use the wood for smelting your resources.
