Friday Night Funkin’ (stylized as FRIDAY NIGHT FUNKIN’ and often abbreviated to FNF) is an upcoming open-source rhythm game first released as a demo in 2020 for a game jam. The game is being developed by a small group called The Funkin’ Crew Inc., with the four founding members being the Newgrounds users Cameron “ninjamuffin99” Taylor, David “PhantomArcade” Brown, Isaac “Kawai Sprite” Garcia, and evilsk8r. The game shares some gameplay features with Dance Dance Revolution and PaRappa the Rapper and borrows aesthetic influences from Flash games. The game has been credited with driving users back to Newgrounds, a site whose popularity peaked in the early 2000s.

The game mainly revolves around the player character, Boyfriend, who must defeat a variety of characters in singing and rapping contests in order to continue dating his love interest, Girlfriend. Gameplay revolves around hitting notes with timed inputs while avoiding running out of health for the duration of the song.

The game was initially created for the Ludum Dare 47 game jam on October 5, 2020. An expanded demo was released on November 1, 2020, with updates being released in the following months. A full version backed on Kickstarter titled Friday Night Funkin’: The Full Ass Game is currently in development.

Thomas the Tank Engine is an anthropomorphised fictional tank locomotive in the British Railway Series books by Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher, published from 1945. He became the most popular and famous character in the series, and is the titular protagonist in the accompanying television adaptation series Thomas & Friends and its reboot Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go.

All of the vehicles in The Railway Series were based on prototypical engines; Thomas’s basis is the LB&SCR E2 class. Thomas first appeared in 1946 in the second book in the series, Thomas the Tank Engine, and was the focus of the four short stories contained within. In The Railway Series and early episodes of Thomas & Friends, Thomas’s best friends are Percy and Toby, though he is also close friends with Edward. Later episodes of Thomas & Friends have Thomas in a trio with James and Percy, and Percy is known as his best friend.

In 1979, British writer and producer Britt Allcroft came across the books, and arranged a deal to bring the stories to life as the TV series Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends (later simplified to Thomas & Friends). The programme became an award-winning hit around the world, with a vast range of spin-off commercial products.

The Challeng-EDD event is the second timed challenge to come out for the Online vs mod. The challenge is based off of the animated series Eddsworld. It was released in Update 0.3.9 along with the Unloaded challenge lasting from 1/30/22-6/1/2022. In this challenge, Boyfriend sings a song with Edd, where absolutely no unexpected guest will come in and ruin their time. Completing the challenge normally will reward the player with Edd. Completing the challenge in “Fucked” will reward the player with Tord. In any difficulty other than Fucked, Eduardo, Jon, and Mark will interrupt Edd and Boyfriend with Eduardo being the singer.
In Fucked difficulty, Tom doesn’t come outside the house as usual due to him leaving the house during The End (Part 1). Later on, when it is supposed to switch to Eduardo, Jon, and Mark, the floor will instead begin to tremble and Tord appears with his giant robot with Tom appearing at the same time. At the end of the song, Tom will shoot Tord with his harpoon gun like in the original episode.

Eddsworld is a British series made by Edd Gould, with a series of animations, comics, and games by the same individual, that started roots from Newgrounds, and later spread over on YouTube and Twitter, alongside an online website with comics of the series. It started in June 6, 2003, and later continuing post-The End since then. The collections of animations follows up Edd, Tom, and Matt (Alongside Tord for the old eras) living in random and nonsense adventures. The series follows by two eras, being “Classic”, “Legacy”, and “Beyond”, with the last era now being running by Edd’s family and Matt Hargreaves, after they took over Eddsworld duties from Tom.
