  1. On the topic of luck in speedrunning : I think it really doesn't play in the way people find enjoyment in looking at the best speedruns. In my opinion, the very best speedrunners are all as skilled, the top one is just always a little bit luckier.
For example, in darksouls 1, your run is f*cked if you don't get one particular item that you only have one chance of getting, so this is about pure luck, and there are other items that you have very few shots at getting in the game. Yet this doesn't downplay the skills of the speedrunners because even if I get the halbard that you have one shot at getting, I wouldn't be very much faster at playing the game because I'm just shitty at the game and that's it.
I don't know if I make a lot of sens but to me speedrun is about passion and getting enjoyment out of watching people being really good at a game you like, so if there is luck involved, it really doesn't matter at all. Because at the end of the day only someone who is incredibly skilled at the game can finish it in such a short time.

  2. I liked Inside, although I saw it more as him commenting on the mental health crisis of being isolated in the past year and how we distract ourselves with social media and technology.

  3. I remember a few years back seeing people comment about being holosexual on non related videos, and I honestly got annoyed, and I saw other people expressing similar stances as well. Personally it never really turned me away from watching your content it just, strengthened my conviction of not participating in internet fandoms lol

  4. In regards to Minecraft mods I think Mojang does endorse mods. I know they've even hired some mod creators officially. The interesting dynamic is actually the speedrunning community since with Minecraft community has a huge modding influence

  5. I hope simplypodlogical encourages people to actually think through things, I don't think anything annoys me more than people who have an opinion they haven't thought through and have no evidence for a proper debate.

  6. Inside was awesome…TBH…That's how the world works, White woman's instagram, imma facetime with my mom etc. were more relatable to me. Rest were funny & I understood what he meant but couldn't relate

  7. minecraft java is coded in java script (duh) and mods and plug ins are coded to “change” the game or to help optimize the game itself. i believe in a more recent stream, dream talked about the time line and how at the time he already moved things around and that files were already deleted. i’ve also heard dream just has an temper, but the stream he did gave evidence with time, and screenshots

  8. I'd probably be downvoted anywhere else I post this but even as a kpop fan myself I think the way kpop companies market their idols maximizes the whole parasocial relationship dynamic for profit and its very creepy to me

  9. having spent the last year in the commentary community i have a prior knowledge to some of this. He deleted the Mod folder. weather it was before or after he was asked to provide it to confirm the legitimacy of his run I'm not sure.

  10. I love that you guys engage in conversations about online "stuff" in general—it's a reminder that people can be interested in the stories or workings of other topics outside of their own day-to day without necessarily being 100% invested in that topic.

  11. I really don't think that artists are responsible for their fandom's action. And with your example of kpop fans spamming fancams, that's a tricky thing in itself because those artists have fans in different countries, posting on different platforms. They probably are not even aware this fancam trend is even a thing because they just don't interact with that particular part of the internet or just don't know english.
You can't blame them or say that they are encouraging their fans to spam them everywhere. There are also a lot of trolls that are disturbing not only people who don't even like kpop but the actual fandom as well. And besides the crazy people who spam everywhere, i don't see how fanbases in general being so excited about their favourite artist and being promotional(in normal ways) means they are being taken advantage of or creepy in any way. But that's just my opinion.

  12. As someone who doesn't comment a lot I don't think I posted a negative comment back when I first discovered you. I remember getting recommended a lot of your videos. I thought you reminded me a lot of Jenna and I was put off by that similarity. But somehow I kept clicking on your videos and enjoying them more and more. To the point that I now even watch your podcast <3 every single episode. even if the topic is not appeling to me. I just enjoy listening to you and Ben talking to each other! : )

  14. 36:30 even nowadays some of your fans has went to channels like jen luv and attacked her for some things she said about holo taco and her personally not liking it just because of what she personally liking on her nails and people were saying things like "are you sure you did it right" and some other mean stuff like she cant not like something. But yeah youre right especially when youre a bigger creator a small subset of your fanbase is going to do some not nice things to defend you or what not. It doesnt mean you necessarily have a "toxic" fanbase its just normal to have some % of your fans do not good things
