  1. I think a lot of this "stick drift" could be down to bad luck (getting one that's been poorly manufactured) or simply caused from abuse by the user (excessive gaming or being a bit rough with the right stick?). I don't know. I've had a PS5 and 4 controllers since November 2020, but much like the DS4's, I put Grip-Its on the thumb-sticks day one, so any wear and tear is likely to be absorbed by the Grip-It, and not the stick itself.

Perhaps i've been lucky (so far), but no "stick drift" present. Of course the Grip-Its wear out after more and more gameplay and do eventually need replacing (some i've had for 2-3 years and they're fine, others fall apart after 12 months… it depends on what games i'm playing, as I have noticed in games that require a lot of jerky, rapid movement of the sticks do tend to show wear quicker on the Grip-Its (or in rare instances they start to slip off as they get older and looser lol).

So, i'd suggest thumb stick grips. It's a lot cheaper replacing those than the DS5 controller. It mightn't solve the problem, but it will protect your thumb sticks… remember on the DS4's where the rubber would split or wear down… didn't happen for me even on the v1's which were well known for having that issue.

As always, thanks for an informative video John.

I don't know if you've done one on "What happens if I insert a PS5 disc or 4K Movie disc into a PS4/PS4 Pro", but you probably should. Recently, Team 17 told me I could get the PS4 version of Overcooked All You Can Eat for free, simply by putting my PS5 disc in the PS4. I didn't do it, but clearly, they're misinformed on how the whole PS5 upgrade method works. Some still think it's like Crossbuy. That, if it's on the PS4 and PS5, it'll work on both. But, please, if anyone is reading this, do not try using PS5 or 4K discs on a PS4/PS4 Pro!

  2. I’ve had my controller for months now but it honestly sucks how there’s still stick drift on new generation consoles. You would think by 2021 someone would’ve implemented a way to at least reduce it a bit

  3. 8$ on amazon gets you a 10 pack of potentiometers along with 10 minutes of your time and you can fix any drifting analog stick. People make such a big deal out of nothing.

  5. Sony should be GRIIIILLLEEDD to hell and back for still using the same crappy sensors for the analog sticks from way back on the PS2 controller, despite stick drift being a constant issue! Even the Sega Dreamcast controller's analog stick had a hall effect sensor which is completley immune to stick drift. How is Sony still using stone age tech despite knowing the problems??

Xbox uses the same sensors so I'm not singleing out the PS5, but you'd expect better for a 5th gen console from Sony.
