CD Projekt Red has joined the not so hallowed halls of the Dirty Devs. However, since this is due to the CORPORATE people in charge, and not actually the developers, I have decided to title the video “Corpo Rats” both in honor of the Cyberpunk universe and because the developers should not be held accountable for the actions of their superiors. Make no mistake, with the lies they have engaged in over Cyberpunk 2077, as well as the recent actions of GOG over the video game Devotion, they have earned their spot on this list.

  1. I have base PS4 and the game is not unplayable. 1.05 reduced the crashes to every few hours (and always when reloading a save having just died). The graphics are not as good as the PC, but "no shit Sherlock". If it had released in 1.05 I would have had no problem with the game. (1.03 was imo unplayable on base PS4).

  2. The crux here is that there isn't enough public information to go on.
Did they lie? Yes… sorta… The PR lead certainly used every possible obfuscative statement they could to bend the truth into a positive. It's double-speak like this any customer and investor should loath, but investors have to hear it so much they should've known they were being fed a line.
CDPR is its own publisher. They could have not posted a launch date. They could have delayed it for the extra 6 months needed. They could've waited until it was ready like the teaser claimed they would. In fact… that would be the ONLY outright lie in all of this. So why did they jump the shark? Why the early launch? Pressure. 5 years… Investment… IIRC a company goes bankrupt if they don't show a return on investment in 5 years. The success of The Witcher 3 likely had investors lining up at CDPR's doorstep. Microsoft, Sony, and many many more. So… Core development has been going for 5 years, starting 3 years after the project's announcement. Pressure from MS and Sony to launch within that 5 year window in an effort to call their investment had them on the edge of ruin. It was do or die. I can assure you, if they hadn't launched, their investors would've pulled out, and taken them to court for breach of contract. So they had two choices: Either they could try to pull a No Man's Sky and launch a functional (barely) beta build of the game; or they could not and get litigated into oblivion… CDPR's name, IP, and assets to be sold at auction to their investors while filing bankruptcy. Sure, this is all purely speculation, but it's reasonable speculation. If they had waited to take on investment, then they could've had an extra year of development window. On PC there have already been major improvements. Oh and yes, this does mean that if the majority of the investors backing Star Citizen file a class-action against Cloud Imperium Games for failure to return on investment, the company, IP, and all their assets could be auctioned off and finally put the nails in that coffin of broken promises.

  3. I say, I honestly do not care that much about it… if it did not work properly… then I will be more reluctant buying next time… that is all. from al this reporting I is more reported on then when EA does some shit…and this is a company with a bether reputation yes, and it do have bugs yes, and for some unplayable, and I say here… sue the console for forcing a contract and being impatient.

  4. It's a shame things turned out this way because I'm actually really enjoying my time with the game and haven't had any notable bugs aside from the odd physics glitch that was more amusing than anything. Performance could be a bit better considering I'm running a Ryzen 7 2700X and 2080ti, but so far it's only been minor occasional frame dips.

  5. Heh, the title. This entire mess on its own would've already been pretty impressive, but there's something so special about all of this having the extra irony of the backdrop of the project's own story themes being able to reflect onto reality in some form.

Perfect, really, I think I almost prefer this botched launch of inconceivable proportions over a smooth one, it's a much more compelling video game industry story. Don't get me wrong, I would've absolutely loved to be able to pick up the game and enjoy the cool game we thought we were being sold, but this is just so much tastier. A cyberpunk game being brought down by the very thing the genre has traditionally thematically looked at.

Nice of them to remind us about the dangers of rampant corporate interests influencing consumer product management by showing through example, seems like it's a lesson everyone will still need reminders of for a while.

I'll be waiting a few months for things to cool down and pick it up when the game's in a better state. And maybe even on sale.

  6. I didn't pre-order the game nor did my brother with his PC, I got it on my ps4 just expecting it not to be as pretty or have as great of fps.
Not for it to be unplayable. While everyone's experience seems to be different with how bad of a degree things are it took me a few hours just to get past the "first mission" due to the constant freezing which I had to turn off and on my ps4, bugs or glitches which prevented me from getting past points and also making so I couldn't use guns. Be it my shots hitting point blank with particle effects hitting the enemy but not connecting– or the lag being so horrible It was impossible to fight when it did work. Enemies teleporting/glitching into walls were I couldn't hit them but they still hit me… unable to do stealth kills despite it prompting me too causing for much frustration.

I can tolerate visual bugs that I can laugh at and find personal entertainment. But not gameplay affected stuff.

It's sad, because I knew there was a GREAT game but it was trapped and hidden beneath all these glitches and bugs that prevented me from enjoying that game.

While my brother refunded for other reasons we're both heavily disappointed. What's even more sad is talking about these things with others who can relate then having some people have the audacity to dare say it's "our fault" or "Quit being whiney bitches, that's either a feature of the game or you should've known better to buy it on ps4."

  8. Honestly my experience is pretty different from what i reading. Yes the game definetly wasnt ready yet. Plenty of minor bugs and visual glitches on pc but nothing was game breaking and what is was fixed by reloading

Not discounting any one's story but just suprised how different they are. But beside that im liking the game.

  9. Virtually unplayable on previous gen, game breaking bugs and after nearly eight years it's state is a joke.

Those who defend this are the reason why games are released like this and should hold them to task!!

The devs were "bullied" into passing it for release and their investors are now filing class action lawsuits, Cd project red upper management who are at fault (not the devs) should be fired!!

40% drop in stock value and still dropping.

Zero sympathy for those at fault!!

  10. I hate how they marketed a "next gen RPG" yet switched it to an more appropriate "action adventure". If you look at what was marketed for 7to 8 years (not hype from gamers, strictly from CDPR), it is an anthem level scam.

Now, doesnt mean game cannot be enjoyed. Lot of people like the game. But the previously stated is why i am angry at the company.

  11. After the initial hype of Cyberpunk 2077, and after I got annoyed by it and everyone started praising it like a deity, I had the suspicion in the back of my head that it was going to flop. And hell it was disappointing for those people who praised it.

I didn't know about this game or much about CDPR, but I purchased the game on PC in name of the talented developers that tried to tackle this immense project for so many years, only for it to be unfinished. Even if the money finds itself to the company, I hope it will make its way to help fix this game.

  12. I would think that gamers especially in the United States have learned their lesson about buying game early and not waiting and seeing what happens before they released. Apparently the lesson has not sunk in yet. Perhaps it is because of the younger audience perhaps it's because I'm turning into an old fart but I prefer to wait until after the first patch of a game before actually picking it up.

  13. it's both kind of funny, and yet so sad, that none of these execs seem to understand that if you just make a good game without a metric ton of bullshit attached, you'll get the profits.

  14. I don't remember if you did it, but I think a video on fans could also be a good topic, given that idiotic fanboys are defending the game from any criticism and even attacking people for doing so to the point of attacking a woman that had an epilepsy stroke due to the unwarned flashing lights during brain dance.
CDPR clearly knew that the base consoles wouldn't do it and they never showed any footage along with the review codes coming the day it came out.
Not only that, but if this game had come out on November or April it would be a different story because next gen either wouldn't be a thing or there wouldn't be many people with a Next gen console.
Overall CDPROJEKT and CDPR higher ups have just shown us they're just EA and Actiblizz disguised as a "consumer friendly" company.
Lesson learned for many once more, Companies are not your friends, don't preorder, don't spit out hype or money for a game that clearly hasn't been transparent

  15. 1 small addition/correction , most huge businesses are catering to china not just because the huge market / yeah for some it may be the only reason / , but also its huge economic weight outside of china and not to mention the dirty disgusting underhanded other stuff china can and willing to do against individuals or corporations …. I dont like that corporations bend the knee to china , not a bit , but lets be real , slave camps , "re-education camps", organ harvesting , multiple genocides , military invasions , disappearing of problematic individuals , what is that china is not willing to do to get its way ?

  16. You know it is funny… I was listening to all the mentions of bugs in cyberpunk 2077 and thinking, it still sounds like it runs better than Skyrim on release and then you go ahead and compare CD projekt Red to old Bethesda XD
