Whoa, didn't realize how many Nightbringer fans were out there.
For ppl wondering – Nightbringer deals 6.67 damage on average to Mortarion in melee. Combined with an average output of 3.56 damage after his C'tan powers (Antimatter Meteor and Gaze of Death are the most dangerous iirc), he deals about 10.226 damage on average.
And he's less than 500 points… slightly undercosted by a few hundred points imo
What does he lose if he's soupped? Sorry if I missed it
Visions in the smoke full shooting kustom stompa(belly gun, deffkannon & lifta droppa) with more dakka can down him in a turn
@tacticalTortoise how do you not have the best shooting army in the game??? Admech mortal wounds and a millions shots can kill morty.
Plan A Salamanders flame aggressors. Use the strat to max out number of wounds (I run 5), so that's 60 hits. In the tactical doctrine with crucible I'm wounding on 4s. Still not enough for all in 1 go. So I'll make the rest up with erraticators maybe?
Plan B. Ignore him, and just try score points.
I'd suggest sending the Nightbringer at him, as his abilitys won't be shut down, as there not Aura, no invun can be taken and no feel no pains can be taken ur doing d6 damage chance u could 1 shot him

Morty is just ridiculous. Makes me not miss playing 40k.
Played a game. I recommend playing a game. Played craftworlds against straight DG morty.
Fire prisms with linked fire strat did some work, Crimson hunters rerolling to wound against flyers did some work, doom jinx guide and while to value is probably in the soak but still took 2 turns of shooting everything into him but hey, he's still dead. Going first all shoots lists really won't stress to much about it in my opinion. Sure harlequins isnt a great match up but other armies out there won't struggle. Ad mech won't break a sweat. He's tough and his soak is high but ultimately not unkillable/op
Vulkan He'stan, and 6 flamestorm gauntlet aggressors, stay back for the rerolls to hit n wound. In the tactical doctrine, 3 stratagems, flamecraft for full shots, the crucible of battle plus 1 to wound, so plus 2 in tactical doctrine, and the fires of battle to deal 3 mortal wounds.
I think 4D smites with GKs could take him down so long as there isnt a screen. He either he denies the smites or lets GKs pull off other psychic powers
Sad day to see magnus behind him. With the buffs to morty leaves hopes for thousand sons magnus. He deserves better cause he did nothing wrong
I really wish someone would do the math on Tau units vs Mortarion, I'm interested to see how different units square up.
My maths says that thunderhammer wulfen will each do 1.85 wounds if you use the +1 to wound start on them. At 41 points per model they aren't the most efficient though I guess.
Why do we need to kill a 500 pt model in one turn?
I'm suprised you didnt include Kaldor Draigo or Roboutte Guilliman in the numbers. Draigo has gone toe to toe with Mortarion before in the lore and beaten him and Guilliman is another Primarch.

interesting o am just confused where you are getting some of these stats for him. such as the contagion one and choosing contagions

what about Obliterators with the best roll of 18 shots at S9 AP-3 Damage3 with Veterans of the Long War and Endless Cacophony ?

Does mortarion reduce damage from mortal wounds? they are treated as 1 damage each from 3 mortal wound smites for example right so he does not reduce damage?
I was hoping magnus would do it, still proud of my Magnus. Hope he gits similar treatment to Morty.
Magnus likely gets same power boost as Mortarion…
And we're still waiting for the completion of the big 4, Angron and Fulgrim…
