Brazilian law forbids the seller of a product doing any action that cause s the product to stop working. Also because here we habe the right to resell.
Contrary to USA, EULA (user agreement) can't demand anything that is abusive or against the law, so it is in most cases, considered null in courts.
Of course, being a service, Sony can ban the user account from psn, but not the hardware itself, only exception being if the product buyer had it stolen, had made a police notification and asks the phone provider to do so, not against his will.
Consumer rights laws are very strong in Brazil and a rare case that mostly works well.
