Cyberpunk 2077 Console Review – A Colossal Disappointment

We have a game that seems to veer between coming dangerously close to greatness, and making you wonder how exactly a game that has been eight years in the making can still feel so rushed and unfinished.

Maybe one day in the future, CD Projekt RED will put out a follow up that finally realizes the potential of this game – after all, the original Witcher was nowhere near the behemoth that The Witcher 3 ultimately became – but in the here and now, in spite of the expectation, the hype, and the promises, what we have is something that makes a lot of promises, and then ultimately fails to live up to most of them.

Version tested: PS4 version played on PS5 via backwards compatability.

  1. This game is a masterpiece! Playing on PS4 Pro and I'm experiencing next to no bugs or glitches and the graphics look like I expected them to and getting a stable 30 frames so all is good here. What were people expecting to get out of the base models? This is the most ambitious game out there right now so obviously it wasn't going to look and run well on 7 year old hardware anyway. The game will be fixed in the coming weeks so grow up and be patient! A game as amazing as Cyberpunk deserves your patience.

  2. 6? for a completely broken POS like this? Down vote and unsub – I cant believe you have so little respect for your audience that you would still recommend a game so broken even the dev says 'return it'. Seriously Gaming bolt, you are pathetic.

  3. I might be the devil but i seriously enjoying the game. I didn't had any huge expectations even when the e3 trailer blew up back in 2019 because of Keanu Reeves i still kept my expectations low and thats why today im enjoying the game. I stopped hopping on the hype train that surround upcoming games i have learned my lesson with watch dogs and no mans sky.

  4. Wasteland 3 Crashed Way more for me this year than cyber punk has, so far. But it’s still really disappointing that after as long as it was in development and playing on a PlayStation five it’s still crashing at all.

  5. I'm really confused about how Cyberpunk 2077 could've turned out like this. CD Projekt Red already did an amazing open-world game via Witcher 3. Cyberpunk just feels like a huge step backwards. Not to say the graphics and such aren't amazing because they are gorgeous but the world at times feels dead its impossible to do basic things like interact with NPCs.

  6. From the very moment when CDPR had announced that they were going to withhold showing anything on current gen and instead showed PC I knew something was up. I went straight to GS and got my refund. Glad I did. This game is Fallout 76/No man sky hella bad.

Also that apology from CDPR…absolute bullshit.

  7. This is a next gen game. Its already impressive how those old shitty PS4 are able to run it, lol. The game is a masterpiece. Console people are just crying because it works great only on PC. The story, the characters – a bomb of an adventure. Enjoyed everything about this game.

  8. The company probably ran out of money making a game this ambitious. That’s why the management and marketing wanted to rush this game so much. Apparently the greatness of witcher 3 is not enough to keep the money rolling, so cyberpunk had to be rushed or they’ll go bankrupt. What cdpr should have done was to make a cash grab online game, as a constant source of cash flow. Either witcher online or whatever, and redirect the funds to keep the company alive. Cdpr didn’t have much choice anymore, it’s a “us or them” situation, so they choose to sacrifice the launch with a half assed console version. I’m sure they knew this was gonna happen. Cdpr isn’t as big as EA or ubisoft so making cyberpunk must cost a fortune to them. The only advantage they got of putting their customers at risk is their reputation as “pro consumer company” while in reality game company like cdpr has to be pro consumer in order to make the company sustainable.

It’s up to us now, how are we gonna do about it. To me, it’s also the “me or them” situation from now on, no more pre order no matter how cool the goodies or how awesome the game or how trustworthy this company is. If we want to save the future of gaming, we should say death to pre order. But that’s just me

  9. Controversial statement but reviewers like SkillUp, IGN, Yongyea and many others have scammed us by literally saying the game is good aside from bugs although IGN even said that CDPR shouldn't get a pass for poor performance and bugs, but SkillUp and Yongyea reviews are bad and don't talk about the interaction of the open world. Night City feels and looks great but it doesn't offer the interactivity to the level of RDR2 or GTA 4 or 5 and also Skyrim

  10. I play it on a PS4Pro so the visuals are not as bad as the base consoles but the bugs ruin the whole experience… Im disappointer in CDPR. And I dare to say we gone easy on them so far. If EA or Activision realeasd a game in this state everyone would be going for their pitchforks…

  11. I am with You on this. I was playing it on my PS4 Pro, and I was kind of ok with the performance issues, but game crashes to often to be ignored. I like longer play sessions, and the longest was around 3h before the crash. I'm still keeping it because I'm waiting for the PS5. But still… I'm going to wait for the next gen update.
