Cyberpunk 2077 just got some really really bad news. Sony and Playstation have decided to pull the game from the store and offer full refunds from those who purchased the game on Playstation digitally. This marks an unprecedented move and likely due to the bugs, lag, and overall unfinished nature of Cyberpunk 2077 on base-PS4.

  1. This is insane and unprecedented. This makes the figurative "hole" CDPR has to climb out of with Cyberpunk 2077 a lot deeper. I do question whether Sony has some ulterior motives here, but if this is just a statement against buggy launched it is definitely a step in the right direction. Companies need to be held accountable for this

That said I am still loving Cyberpunk on PC. Its a good game underneath the bugs. I hope we can see a No Many Sky type of recovery here…although it would be a lot nicer if it released in a complete state

  2. Sucks for all the console players that the game ended up like this for them. Im 53 hours in on PC and have yet to encounter anything gamebreaking or poor performace. Sure, there are some funny bugs here and there but nothing that would hinder my progression. Hope they can fix the game enough so all the console players can enjoy the game as much as i have on PC and have a good time over the holidays.

  3. Sony : "Buy a ps5 or you cant play cyberpunk"

What a shame. Game is amazing, at least on the ps5, it crashes once or twice every 5 hours. I can live with that for now

  4. I aggree with everyone who says it shouldn't have been released on last gen. I have a pretty mainstream 5800x rtx 2070 pc and I am really enjoying the game at 1440p 60fps with dlss in performance mode and a mix of medium high with raytraced reflections. Sure I had to manually edit the memory pool to get to 50-60 fps at all times, but every pc game requires tweaking for the idea experience for your particular system. A few glitches and one or two crashes, but not enough to ruin the experience. Way better than what we got with Fallout 76 as well. I also bought the game on my xbox one x, and have it installed on an external ssd, and it is right up there with red dead redemption 2 as one of the best looking and games on the system. Similar framerate too. I really don't know what the issue is. Anyone who thought they should get this game on base last gen consoles and is actually upset about the poor visuals and performance made a poor choice. Nearly every game that came out in the last year on xbox looks and plays pretty bad on the base xbox one.

  5. I commend Sony for standing up to these supposed AAA developers who release broken and unfinished games, it's just a shame that it had to be CDPR when a company like Bethesda is so much more deserving of this sort of strong arm action based on how Fallout 76 has been handled. Thankfully for Bethesda though they're now under Microsoft's wing so they don't have much to worry about, they can keep churning out garbage products and the fanboys will soak it up. I hope CDPR is able to recover from this. They definitely showed more integrity than Bethesda ever has concerning their raging dumpster fire of a game.

  6. I'm sure the last generation, preventing reviews before release the clear deception dishonesty may have tipped the scales. That combined with an unsatisfactory patch and dates of patches they came to realise you cannot charge 60/70 quid for a product that clearly isnt finished, in fact you shouldn't be selling it. It's probably to protect their image and the Sony brand. Hopefully this could be the kickstarter to publishers that release it now patch it later wont be tolerated anymore.

  7. I think you nailed it on the head – that when CDPR put out a press release that ran counter to established policies for Sony and Microsoft that it became more personal for at least Sony. ( It had to have cost them a great deal of money and stress for their staff to have to deal with angry and confused consumers looking for refunds that Sony did not agree to. So they made a blanket decision that the developer should have made. It will save Sony money in staff retention alone and hopefully, help cure CDPR of their hubris.) It is really interesting to watch CDPR and how they have taken a cue from the Corpos in their own game. Perhaps they have spent too long thinking of corrupt corporate storylines that they have fallen into one of their own…

  8. Honestly it never should of released on ps4, other then that the games doing pretty fine. Specially since they've already covered the cost it took to develop the game by day one. Frankly given the complaints about the witcher 3 that made them cut content that the barely 3-4 years of dev time amoung covid as well Small issues were bound to happen tbh but overall still a pretty good game.. on next gen/pc ofc

  9. I like the full refunds, but I don't think it should've been pulled from the store. People who want to play the game as it is now should be able to do that. By this point, they obviously know what they're getting into

  10. Can xbox now slap a “xbox exclusive” sticker on cyberpunk now? Funny other fact in the xbox store there is no page for reviews on cyberpunk and so many other games for me.

Ps.:i feel bad for the people that are having trouble on old consoles, i believe a refund being available is the right thing. Like i have expressed before though until now my xbox one x has been void in the “worth it” department until now. (Tv doesnt do 4k as advertised –_-) i have a couple of problems yes but i have done almost every sidequest i could find in exception of 4 & am at the “turning point” quest. [78 hours played, 3 actual crashes, reduced framerate for 38 minutes collectively, two side quests that bugged out) thats been my experience.]

  11. Honestly, i think sony just shot themselves in the foot, with a quad barrel fully charged shotgun…..

PS: "our console wont run it"
    Xbox : "Ours will…"

ALSO They both had to know how the game was going to run, its their own fault.

ALSO ALSO, is this something to do with the ps5 ben delayed? because lets be real, it isn't been scalped, its been held back.

  12. Matty pointed out how jeff grub said that because it was such a big game CDPR just told sony and Microsoft "hey can we skip certification, we promise itll be fixed before release" and they let them pass certification

  13. They should offer to refund console users their console purchases as well. That's the only way to fix the issue. People still buying into that antiquated business model are the ones holding everyone back.

  14. Its bad business to allow your company to be bad mouthed, especially for a product that isn't yours. When CDPR promised gamers refunds they brought Sony into it and when Sony stuck to their policies THEY became a target. They decided it was a prudent business decision, all told, to refund, take the loss, and punish the people who dragged them into it. This isn't about the game, thats why 76 was never pulled. This is about CDPR forcing Sonys hand.
