How does Cyberpunk 2077 hold up in terms of open-world mechanics against the twelve-year-old Rockstar game “GTA IV”?

Comparing basic RPG/RP mechanics from the Grand Theft Auto series to Cyberpunk 2077.

Personally, I was extremely disappointed in the lack of RP elements in Cyberpunk. To me, Cyberpunk feels more like an action-adventure game in the likes of the Far Cry series.

  1. This video is so ridiculous. CP2077 and GTA are completely different games. Only similarity is open world city. Might as well compare CP2077 to Farmville. Is CP2077 bad because you cant plant and harvest crops, raise livestock, or upgrade your barn? GTA (Grand Theft Auto) is mostly about cars, police, and crime. These are things it does well. CP2077 is not about these things at all. Does GTA have cybernetic enhancements, RPG perk system, good engaging story, fun side quests, etc.? Nope.

  2. I don't understand people. Rockstar has been doing GTA since 98. They have lot more experience in this type of games. And this is one of main reasons why no one beats them. On the other hand, CDPR has only did Witcher games. They did great job. But Witcher and Cyberpunk are entirely different games. Expecting "new GTA" was unrealistic from start, and they showed us that. It is not that because CDPR is bad, or untalented. They just don't have experience. It is like expecting year's best soccer game from Bethesda.

  4. Its fucking 2077, stop comparing things like destructions, robberies, etc because they ain't a valid point cyberpunk isnt a game ser in 2020 with some futuristic cars and futuristic buildings. For example you cant rob a store becaus everything is digital, and you can't shoot tires because there is no flat tire problem, vehicles are made from stronger materials etc.
The ai is shit, the physics are shit, and no argument can disprove that.

  5. Funny how NPCs in Cyberpunk 2077 only have two or three lines that loop forever.
In GTA, you could listen to NPCs for 30 minutes straight without hearing them repeat the same thing twice.

  6. People need to stop using the word "immersion" only to describe the visual aspects of a game, be it graphic ones or artistic ones.

In my opinion, immersion isn't about that. In a video game, your character is an anomaly. You are the anomaly in the environment that the game offers.

Say you play a game that takes place in an urban city. If you stay still, the city will keep living without according any importance to you. Of course, if your character is in the way, the NPCs will try and find a way to avoid the obstacle that your character represents to them.

But as soon as you start moving, the game has to take you into account. The game has to adapt to your character, you character doesn't adapt to the game. It's a one-way thing.

Immersion is about how convincing a game is. What makes a game convincing is how the inhabitants within that world behave when your character enters their "routine".

Whether it is pedestrians or car drivers, they hold the key to the game immersion. Interactions with the world define how immersive the game is.

This video illustrates this in the most accurate way. It shows how a game should behave, and how it shouldn't.

  7. Did you all forget how terrible was GTA IV on launch? It was literally unplayable on any PC, let alone the best.
Of course it got better with time and new patches rolled out.
    So shall Cyberpunk 2077

  8. This is so damning!!
Imagine just adding the ability to sit at a bar/cafe and drink would make to immersion in this game, CDpred made so many strange decisions with the little things they excluded like that. By sounds of things they're taking it on board tho and making changes (especially to the AI). So in 6 months to a years time we may actually have the RPG game we were promised, but it takes the piss so many gaming publishers do this now throwing out unfinished shit.
