Today we’re gonna be playing Dyson Sphere Program! It looks a good bit like Factorio in 3d! Let us organize some spaghetti conveyer belts.

  1. I know I’m a day late but please listen to honey bunches of oats. It’s 3:2
In your calculation you missed the last step where you compare x coils per 3 sec to y copper per 6 seconds

  2. I've always struggled to get into games like this. The strategy games, management sims, or automation whatevers. I find myself getting super overwhelmed by how much there is to do, and all the possible ways there is to do it. That said, I really enjoyed watching this, seeing someone who kinda knows what they're doing, and it really makes me want to try again. Thanks, Day9.

  3. First of all, building a Dyson Sphere (in the sense of a single, solid megastructure) < building a Dyson SWARM (a cloud of millions of unconnected satellites, solar mirrors, and orbiting habitats). Indeed, the latter was the original meaning of the term "Dyson Sphere", before pop culture co-opted it for the much less useful solid structure.

Furthermore, if we're colonizing a star and building a Dyson Sphere around it, why are we setting foot on the planet at all? Why aren't we mining asteroids, so all the materials are in space to begin with?

This game gives me Isaac Arthur conniptions.

  4. Looks interesting. Curious how well the computer behaves once we get to our factorio mega base sizes given its all 3D. Since much of this seems to be 1:1 (heavily influenced and quisi stolen) to factorio down to the research colers, I'm guessing it will be fine???
