There are sea monsters out in the sea
Wow that sea monster was amazing, this game so good and fun.
I made a moat as well. Downside is that trolls and other mobs will just destroy the dirt until they reach your base. My winter base almost collapsed because a giant just kept hitting the dirt underneath it
Adding a line of campfires is a good trap & way to light the caves up
Build the finewood bow.
Portals are a thing. I believe they are under buildings.
Giant sea serpents, colossal sea turtles and probably the kraken! I hope you enjoy the Valheim seacruise experience!
I don't know if you can craft the harpoon yet but if you can then you can shoot the sea serpent and drag it up onto dry land then easily kill it, from what I've seen in other videos it's meat can craft one of the best meals in the game for health and stamina..

If anyone is having problems finding Haldor, the merchant:
It took me maybe 50 hrs (yes, seriously) to find him. On my map he was to be found extremely close to the eastern edge of the world. Forget anything about the starter island or the next ilands to your 1st island. Nope, he can be ANYWHERE in a black forest biome. Mind you, there's a belt of black forest from east to west, to the respective edges of the world. If you travel south/north, the black forest will get gradually rarer until it'll be completely replaced by other biomes (no spoilers.)
Haldor's icon will appear around 2.5-3 times the distance of your sight circle in the fog of war. Thus you won't have to check every small patch or island of black forest.
Always have the ingredients for a portal on you or your boat/ship. And make sure you prepare a counterpart portal in your base before leaving.
Hope this'll be of help, I almost lost my mind finding that little imp…
can you build a tower in the moat? then you can jump from the shore to the tower then into you fort.

Make a Cultivator tool, then you can grow carrots from seeds. Then make a cauldron and cook carrot soup. It's a really good food.
