Recently, I asked in a poll if someone was on the verge of quitting (or had quit already), why? There was an overwhelming number of comment and even more votes. Let’s talk about it.
Talking Points:
[00:00] Intro
[00:42] Resin
[06:36] Too Grindy
[09:24] Gacha Greed
[17:58] Lack of content
[20:54] Final Thoughts

Dear MiHoYo, this is why people are quitting | Genshin Impact

Resins is a problem but if you are playing till AR 50+ and havent quit the game you probably wont be quitting anytime soon. Those that quit most probably wouldnt have make it pass AR40.
The one thing gets me fed up is some of the community is way too greedy, they go into a baby rage mode ¨give us more free stuff, I want to do everything and have everything now!¨ like geez people, take it easy is just a game
BTW there is a feedback option on the menu, we do not have to wait for the surveys to come, we can just send in our feedback anytime
I don’t plan on quitting but I’m on the lack of content side. I mean sure a lot of characters have really good lore. I almost know all of the characters origins and such. But my main problem is that the MAIN story line is not progressing ENOUGH. Like it feels like the players don’t really care about the main story line which is really upsetting. Daily Commissions and resin get repetitive. I just want to find out where my other twin is.
Weekly Bosses should be freed from Resin costs to save us more time.
Have never thought about the whole resin keeping you from getting burnt out aspect. Thanks for that. Cos even with the limits, I'm already playing the game a lot less now. I'd probably be there a lot sooner if I didn't have limitations.
My issues outside of resin being used for bosses.. Are lack of content.. There's no new activities that stick around to mess with and add to the reward sources..
and the God-awful drop rates (of stats) for artifacts. My goodness!! I've ONLY grinded for Crimson Witch, and to this day my Diluc works better with 2-piece and other randoms.. Its been months!!
Agh! Anyways.. This was a great video man.. This is my first gacha game. I can't do another one.. But I'm learning finally to tone it down, playing Outriders helps, and getting back into Destiny 2.. Its been good to slow it down, I can actually do what I need to and get out feeling accomplished..
Apart from artifacts.. I've accomplished nothing with artifacts 🙄
Genshin Impact needs some non-resin content to encourage people to run around the open world more to earn more resources. I think the bounties for the city reputation system needs some improvement. It’s capped to 3 bosses weekly and I would prefer it to be daily for some more mora. Maybe, the bounties should give primogems as rewards (O.O).
Have some fun mini-games to play out in the open would like the gliding event and treasure hunting would help alleviate the downtime while waiting for the resin to refill. People just want something else to do when they login and not worry about wasting resin to farm artifacts just to get main stat Def% all the time. >:O
I enjoy exploring the open world and it’s the best part of the game. I’m still waiting for new regions like Inazuma for more story content. I’ll be hoarding all my primogems until new Inazuma and Dendro characters are released since Mihoyo are taking their sweet time releasing new story content slowly.
Also… Big shout out to "Go cook a movie, watch a meal"..
I loved that 🤣😎
The lack of resin and the artifacts RNG is what kill it for me 💀
the rate of character is fine
The rate of high star material IN HIGH LEVEL WORLDl IS NOT FINE!!
Like high level dungeon drop rate and amount is the same as medium level dungeon..
High level boss that can 3 hit you (if you make a mistake) drops low star quality drop…
Blacksmith Weapons that should be more accessible by most players… has shit drop rates..
I want a real dungeon, not domain, no more fucking room with time limit and monsters wave
19:18 cook a movie? Watch a meal?
19:18 go cook a movie go watch a meal 🤣
They're way more generous with currency in Honkai Impact
I think the pity system is actually fine (not weapon banner), the only problem is that we need the primogems lmao
The problem isn't the Resin system.
The reason the Resin system exists is to artificially increase player retention by having to log in at least once a day.
Genshin is a game in which people are likely to spend money on future content. But how do you get to future content unless you continue to play? By forcing players to log in everyday, their interest in Genshin is renewed everyday, albeit with diminishing returns, as any game should have. The interest continues to lessen until the next patch, where hopefully the new content is interesting enough to "reset" your interest in Genshin. Then the cycle begins again.
The problem is the diminishing returns on player interest. If you log in, use all of your Resin, and don't really feel like you accomplished anything, that's the source of your interest waning. Genshin doesn't really have levels aside from AR, but after AR45 I don't really feel like there's a point to chase the increase anymore, considering the Domains max out at that level. Then after AR50 there truly is no more point.
When I play FF14, there are daily bonuses that exist for the same reason to increase player retention. But I don't just log in for those dailies, I also log in to chase and craft some cool equips, level up my jobs, practice some trials, etc., there's so much content and things to chase.
With Genshin it doesn't feel like a chase. It feels like everyday, I log in, roll some dice on Artifacts, do some chores to get Primos, then log out. The most motivated I've been when playing is when I pulled Ganyu from pity, and Xiao from pure luck. I grinded my ass off to level and use them. But once I maxed them, I just started the artifact grind again, and the game became unsatisfying.
The login/logout cycle isn't necessarily bad. But you have to feel like you accomplished something. You can actually use the absolute maximum amount of tries in Artifact Domains and still not come out with good artifacts. It's just pure luck.
Spiral Abyss is a cool end game idea, but ironically doesn't have much depth, and the entire concept just feels bland. Plus, in order to get good times in Spiral, you have to grind good artifacts, which as I said above, is a luck-based chore.
Genshin needs that chase: give us a system that allows us to "combine" artifacts- something that gives us some form of control over what the sub-stats can be. This way, while we grind artifacts, it feels like you're working towards something. Even that %DEF main stat cup becomes a potential stepping stone since it has that %CRITDMG sub stat.
Thanks for reading if you cared to.
I stopped playing this game back in like october or november lol… right before Zhongli came out, I think. I remember everyone had these same complaints back then, it's weird how people still play despite the utter lack of anything to do except grind and gacha summon
I think cutting down resin cost and resin regen would be a very nice move
I wish genshin go downhill fast
Lmao y'all couldn't last 2 days in Honkai Impact, and that's fine 'cause that game is way worse
Have your commissions done for you auto style even when your away
Bruh I don't know why people don't like the pity system. It's amazing, take FGO for example, it's 10x more grindy and harder to get the gacha currency. It doesn't have a pity system.
I think decreasing recharge time than increasing condensed resin cap by 2(80 resin's) be more useful and balanced cause ar 45+ player's need more mora and book and lots of ascension material's, upgrade materials and the artifact drop rate's sucks
I could play this game for hours… If the resin system wasn't so bad
I don't see why there should be a limit to condensed resin. Like what if you can't play much one day, or need to farm a lot for one thing?
Grindy, rates and resin only i hate thats why i request to mihoyo to termjnate my account
I only have 2 major fundamental issues with the game that cause me to ponder quitting from time to time…
1) The game pulls you in as an open world game where you can take your time and handle things how you like. Unfortunately this aspect of the game is made up of exhaustable content. Once it's all consumed the repeatable content left quickly dwindles down to something i think is antithetical to that game you just played: Timed arenas. Instead of enjoying the open world at your own pace, you're locked away in samey-looking circular rooms with a clock ticking down to make sure you can't just enjoy the combat but are instead encourage to optimise the fun out of it and DPS it as hard as possible. I don't think it's challenge but more to the point I really don't think it's fun, as the kind of player hooked by the game we started with.
I want boss fights, dungeons and exploration like you get in Dragalia lost or Gravity Rush 2's treasure hunts or even the first phase of the meteorite event genshin had. Why are the dungeons that you once had only reserved for story and characters? why's there no fun randomly generated dungeons (or even randomly picked from pre-created ones) to co-op through? Why's there no challenging bosses you'd want to group up for? The repeatable content in Genshin is very limited in scope and unfortunately, once you've ascended the characters you like to 80+ you have barely any reason to fight the bosses (which I enjoy more than the domains because there's no arbitrary failure timer) and while the blooms are ok they're not the most rewarding of things in terms of advancement so you're stuck doing artifact domains (timed arenas) and if you're desperate for content you can slap spiral abyss about (oh hey, more timed arenas)
2) The gatcha. you mention rates (which I still think are bad compared to my experiences with Dragalia Lost, Fire Emblem Heroes and AFK arena) but there's more fundamentally wrong with it than that to me. First, the pool is full of absolute garbage. 90% of what you pull are 3 star weapons you'll just fodder into 4 and 5 star weapons once you get past the initial part of the game. Compare this to Dragalia where you're always pulling dragons and characters which are interesting and there's a big enough of a pool to keep you seeing new ones for quite some time. FEH is the same.
Then this is all compounded by the dupe system. What if you pull a dupe of a character you don't want? in Genshin? Tough luck. In Dragalia? You get a currency you can use to either upgrade any character you like or that can be spent to buy cards (which are like a superior version of artifacts in Genshin). In FEH? you can feed them to a character you do like to gain their abilities or send them home for feathers, a currency you need to upgrade any character. AFK arena? Great! you can smush characters together to improve characters in the same faction and even the lowest value units which can't be used for this can be traded in for currency at a shop that lets you buy from a wide selection of characters (of multiple different rarities too) rather than the mere 2 always 4 stars of Genshin's shop. Of the 3 gatchas I've played before Genshin, they've all been a more enjoyable experience in terms of the gatcha, not just in rates but what each pull actually means to the greater game.
To be honest. I mostly keep playing to wait for the next areas for us to explore and new character stories to enjoy (often with a dungeon). They're the content I came to this game for in the first place and I doubt I'm in the minority for that.
6:05 condensed*
Just wanted to say that this was a really well thought out video and I agree with a lot of your points; I've been playing the game since day 1 and I think that although the game does have a lot of issues it also does a few things right.
I would love the resin system to be a bit less harsh than it currently is and the grind to feel more worth it (take a look at the rewards for a boss at ar55, 2 elemental slivers and 1 fragment feel like a slap in the face for 40 resin) but at the end of the day I don't really need those things anyway, the game is manageable without maxing every character.
The rates are also really bad compared to most other gachas but the pity system makes up for it (except for the weapon banner, that one's a piece of garbage lol).
Overall the thing I would like to have the most in this game is some fun repeatable content to do in co-op with friends or alone, that mario party looking gamemode coming in 1.4 could be good if done right for example.
For now I'm just gonna sit back, play if I want to, see where the game goes and give some feedback whenever I can but I can see why some people would quit without some changes to the current system, like some of my friends already did. If eventually we get a really good update like another region and some good story bits tho then I'm all for it.
About that dude mihoyo doesn't care if you quit they never care
this was a necessary video. thank you for making it.
