Demacia: The Most Straightforward Champions | League of Legends

Welcome to the second episode of my lore/factions series! Last episode we talked about the mystical Yordles and their elusive dwelling Bandle City. Today we’re gonna take a step back and go to a more established and concrete location, one of the classic regions of Runeterra: Demacia!

  1. I do like your lord explanation for the AP ratios (they’re a lot more fun) but I believe Riot once made a post regarding their reasoning for giving AP ratios to physical damage dealers. I believe it was a way to round off bonuses you’d get from certain monster camps and other champs. Not super potent obviously but it’s something.

  2. Technically speaking vayen secondary role is considered an assassin, like trist secondary role is also assassin. I appreciate your video it's well done but I think It goes to show how weird and kinda out place vayne is in demacia.

  4. Demacia and Noxus's dynamics within the lore are where I see the most room for growth for our magic-hating friends. Both nations have this semblance of instability within their borders, for Demacia we have Sylas' rebellion and the growing arc around Lux and Garen coming to terms with the darker side of their nation, and within Noxus we have the machinations of the Black Rose, the nebulous state of Mordekaiser, and Swain's deal with a demon. As such, I think a good direction for Riot would be to explore the boundaries between the two nations, both physical and theoretical, and perhaps let us see some interplay between the two nations.

Honestly, I think Riot could really afford to "mix up" some of the normal nation interactions. Yes Piltover and Zaun are two sides of the same coin, but why don't we see how they interact with other nations? The story of Noxus and Ionia is reaching a point where it is no longer an interesting set-piece, so why not explore interactions outside of that relationship? And then we have all of these nations that don't interact with the greater world, like Targon, Shurima (or whatever's there now), Ixtal, and the Freljord. Only in the past year or so have we gotten any expansion on the inter-nation interactions of Bilgewater and the Shadow Isles, but there is so much more room here to explore.

  5. To play Devil's advocate, Demacia has a very good point. If a single mage is able to accrue enough power to alter the course of global politics, then magic itself is not worth the returns. Any one person that has even a drop of magic is a threat.

The weakness of people and the strength of multiple people putting aside their differences for cooperation is what makes humanity as a whole prosper. If only a SINGLE magic wielder can destroy that tenuous balance, then they must be sacrificed for the good of the many. Heck, the mage wars were a literal historical example of how bad things can get when a single mage is able to accrue power. Entire nation-states brought to their knees by maniacal tyrants that cannot be appeased by money or fame and already have enough power to destroy the very planet they stand on. Entire nation states at the capricious whims of god-like beings with very human(not in the species sense but in the sapience sense) faults.

  6. Referring to around 13 minutes, I think another reason Sylas' kit is left so simple is because his ultimate alone adds a high level of complexity to the champion, not only needing to know what ults do, but also needing to know which ones are just outright bad on him, while additionally needing to know how certain ults interact with Sylas' kit. Keeping his basic abilities simple means that his ult is able to be super complex. This is also seen in viego, his kit is also very straight forward (ignoring his passive) because his passive adds so much complexity to the champion.

  7. You could make a demacian assassin. Just make em a fragile duelist that dashes in, tags an enemy causing them to deal extra damage to each other and giving both of them massive resistances to other sources of damage and make said assassin's skills all skillshots.

An assassin duelist that forces 1v1s and can only get kills with outplays but gets ALL of their cooldowns refreshed with every kill. An honorable knight searching for a worthy opponent to finally test his mettle to give him the thrill of a lifetime or death, either way he/she's happy. If you want to give em a defensive outplay, give'em a skill who's animation is the exact same as when he stands still forcing both players to have a psyche out battle. If he stays still, neither of them is sure if he's casted his defensive skill, is faking it or is using it. Yomi incarnate. Fair to the max.

  8. Very interesting story its so nice to know about things i never heard of about the lore. As long as Fiora is still one of the best Top laner in the game, its ok if they don't make Demacia lore interesting.
