Today we have some interesting news regarding the Xbox Series S as a developer recently talked about developing for this “next-gen” console in a new interview. The dev makes it clear that developing for just the Xbox Series X would have been much easier but also points out that it’s much easier to scale graphical features than gameplay features and design. He highlights the Memory in the Xbox Series S and seems to hint at it being a problem for next-gen game design. Will the Xbox Series S hold back the PS5 and PS5 third party games?

  1. So what do you think about what this dev had to say about the Xbox Series S? Honestly it sounds like he wants to come out and straight up say the Series S memory will end up holding back game design. But he did straight up say developing for just the Xbox Series X would be much easier. I'm feeling pretty nervous about how the XSS is going to impact next-gen only game development.

  2. Personally I only have exclusives for my playstation they seem graphically better and more effort put in,, as for my series x, well I only got optimized games not next gen games and all my xbx one games.. It's stupid to compare now. But you will never ever ever ever catch me buy a regular game for my Playstation, only exclusives. As for my xbx series x……..I pretty much buy whatever I like.

  4. Considering the X is more powerful and has better games I think the Ps5 will be holding it back. Luckily the Ps5 does not have a single shooter or rpg franchise of its own, no Dolby Atmos, and is so much less powerful that it shouldn't matter.

  6. I've been saying this with Xbots. There's no way Series S is gonna run 1440p 120Hz or 1440p60. That is the biggest marketing lie of this generation. When I heard the existence of this product and specifications, I knew they gonna sell a box capable of next gen at 1080p60/1080p30 or scaled down RT at 720-900p for $199-$250

  7. That might be so yes if they don't bother to develop for the PS5 exclusively but rather do a "one version to fit all".
I think they should scrap the series S instead and not let the ps5 nor the series X suffer because of the radiobox.

  8. Tbh, it's game mechanics over graphics for me, last gen was all about visuals, and and feel that a lot of the power went towards that, devs were too worried about games looking pretty that most of them are very repetitive and cliché. That's my opinion though, I could be way wrong.

  10. Hopefully devs keep lowering res etc on series s to help it keep up.

We've seen this already ot was touted as a 1440p machine but in telairy its been mostly 1080p, even 720p.

When ps5 and x games are pushing hardware and its 1440p on them the swriex s will struggle at 1080p and probably go to 720p and lower. Especially if dynamic 1440p on the ps5 and sx.

It could hit 540p on the s. Lol

  12. I just hope that some devs who find Series S being away from their true vision just decide to make their game PS5 exclusive. Like good old days, they just made games PlayStation exclusive because that was the platform that enabled them to make a game they wanted, and the install base was still big enough to profit. And the PS5 install base will be 100+ million in no time.

  13. The Series S is Microsoft's way to control the 3rd party games coming out, making sure the ps5 games dont run away looking and playing better. It's essentially a ps4 pro.
The Series s kinda why I won't upgrade to a ps5 because every 3rd party game must look great on Series S, that just means the ps4 pro will have a long life with great games on it for at least 2 years or more
So thanks Microsoft! No need to upgrade to ps5 yet, your ps4 pro will have a long life because of Series S.

  14. This video is bringing up something more gamers need to consider. I’m disappointed, and wish Microsoft would have never released the Series S especially if it’s going to affect how better games could be on the PS5. That Series S will be attached to every multi-plat and there will be limits from the jump. What a crutch!
