Don’t know how I feel about a penalty for leaving pub matches. Supposed to be casual and not take as seriously as ranked. Can be annoying sometimes but it is what it is. Maybe if there was more incentive to play pubs then yeah but there’s not

Demotion exists in Overwatch. when i started climbing a bit in that game, I would stop playing for periods of time to not lose rank due to a losing streak, so I'm definitely against adding demotion to apex.
They should add demotion but give people their rewards for the highest rank like they do for arenas and should probably add more rewards for every rank since a trail and charm are bad. A skin for a gun or character skin would be pretty cool

wrong, totally, yes people would stop playing, but that's actually a good thing not a bad thing, BAD players would stop playing cause they know they will derank cause they are just bad (the current hardstuck4s) that means only the ones that are good/know their worth will keep playing, ofc it only benefits solo players so respawn doesn't want that's, every single change they have done so far its to incentivize players to go with a premade instead (simply because 3 customers is better than 1).
so yeah, its just an excuse, but if they did it, ranked would be healthier cause you know you are playing with similarly skilled players not some hardstuck 4 who doesn't give a shit about your rp so they play like its pubs since they lose nothing.
long store short: bad players would stop playing with a demoting system (so no more hardstuck 4s running your games), but they want to keep what we have right now cause you either leave the game for good or find 2 more players to play ranked (which is 2+ potential customers for them), to put it simple, money is the one talking here, they don't give a flying fuck about the health of the game.
