Dwarf Fortress Dev Update: First look at tooltips and dwarves!

Tarn Adams of Bay 12 Games explains what improvements have been made the past few months. This time we actually manage a fortress! See dwarves (work in progress), stockpiles, pigs, wells, bridges, HUMANS (ugh), and what happens when you hover on things.

What is Dwarf Fortress? JUST the most intricate simulation of a world that’s ever been created, finally coming to Steam.

  1. I know the fedora-wearing purists hate the graphics but honestly, fuck em. Bravo to the artists! Coming home from all day at work just to look at what looks like a broken window XP spreadsheet hurts my eyes.

I'd pay 60$ for this and I'd buy 10 copies. Bravo!!

  2. glad to see how it advances towards the next great (the steam) release. maybe you can make a vid showing you outside, so we know you've not been kidnapped by Lord GabeN and forced to work on that version. i mean unless that would make you throw up from your cave adaption and the bright sunlight.

  3. blinks Why the heck are mechanisms under furniture?

EDIT: I wonder if the poor guy has social anxieties. Starting to feel a bit of motion sickness from all his rocking, though I suspect that's not an overly common reaction to it.

  4. This is amazing! I just found out about this recently after coming back to this game. Does anyone who has been following this a bit longer know if adventure mode will also get makeover for the controls and a ui? That would be great as well.
