Electric Pioneers: 50 Years Since Humankind First Drove on the Moon

As the Lunar Module pilot on Apollo 16, Charles โ€˜Charlieโ€™ Duke became the tenth person to step onto the moon and one of only six people to experience the Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) โ€“ one of the most advanced, innovative electric vehicles ever. And yet, until recently, he hadnโ€™t driven an electric car on earth. To mark the 50th anniversary of the first LRV landings on the lunar surface, he did just that. Behind the wheel of a Porsche Taycan.

  1. Cool video but the tittle is stupid. Stop with that PC vocabulary – it's mankind, not humankind. Word mankind was never about highlighting males. It always referred to whole species. Stop listening to bonkers feminists.

  2. Are you, purposefully, leaving out that the electric motors in the Moon Rover had to be licensed from Porsche, as they were a design first developed by Ferdinand Porsche at the end of the 1800's, and were used in 2 models of Lohner cars at the turn of the century.
To do this is to dishonor the man who, without him, and his family, your company would not exist today. Shame on you!

  3. Can anyone in the comment section do this? Being handed a key for a Porsche owned Porsche sitting in an airport apron just for you and just strolling it at 30mph as if itโ€™s a Rolls-Royce? And all youโ€™ve got to say is โ€œamazing technologyโ€?

  4. The downside is that Porsche lacks a variety of car designs: it has to have a lot of car types. Porsche has to go beyond the Konik Seg. Porsche is my favorite brand. Various designs and sedans It would be nice to sell classic old-fashioned cars such as luxury sedans or Pontiacs. There are only two 911 and Panamera every day. SUV is not interested. I hope various designs come out more.
