Ep5 : A fresh planet to fill with machines : Dyson Sphere Program

Had overtime this week and it ate into my schedule, will have extra free time next month and I’ll make it up to everyone.
Having a bit of Tech and a clean planet to work on really allows you to just plough though setting up a mall. I am loving the logistic towers they make life so much simpler.

Dyson Sphere Program is a sci-fi simulation game with space, adventure, exploration and factory automation elements where you can build your own galactic industrial empire from scratch.

In the distant future, the power of science and technology has ushered a new age to the human race. Space and time have become irrelevant thanks to virtual reality. A new kind of supercomputer has been developed – a machine whose superior artificial intelligence and computing capability will push humanity even further. There is only one problem: there isn’t enough energy in the whole planet to feed this machine.

You are a space engineer in charge of a project launched by the space alliance COSMO, tasked with a massive undertaking: constructing Dyson Spheres (a megastructure that would orbit around a star, harnessing all its power and energy) to produce the energy that humanity needs. Only a few decades ago, Dyson Spheres were considered a hypothetical, impossible invention – but now it’s in your handsâ€Ļ Will you be able to turn a backwater space workshop into a galaxy-wide industrial production empire?

Neutron stars, white dwarfs, red giants, gaseous and rocky planetsâ€Ļ There is a big and varied universe out there, waiting for you to gather all its resources.

Every playthrough will be unique: your universe will be procedurally generated every time you start a new game. There will be different types and distribution of stars, planets and resources. Will you manage to thrive and build your Spheres, no matter what the universe throws at you?

As a space engineer, you are expected to design your interstellar factory and production lines, not to micromanage every small package going back and forth. You have to transport materials from one planet to another, forming interstellar transport teams that gather resources and bring them to where they are needed.

Then, your resources can be transported between facilities through conveyor belts, and you’ve got the technology to help your buildings fit the grid automatically during the construction process. You’ve got the best tools COSMO can afford to build a massive-scale automated production line – the most efficient one ever seen in the universe!

  1. If you were to accidentally request from your home system, they wouldn't "slowly fly there without warp". The default distance without warpers maxes out at 12 AU, which is still intra-system. Not 12 LY, 12 AU. So either stuff would be delivered from your home system with warpers, or not delivered at all.

  2. Maybe try to find an Ice Giant with Fire Ice, you don't need to have a big setup in that system but it will help massively later on if you don't want to burn through millions of coal a second 🙂

  3. If you place a building you'll get landfill as well, and then you can pick up the building afterwards.

I like research buildings for it since they're fairly large and get more per placement.

  4. So whats the scale of these objects to reality? I feel like either none of these "planets" can be labeled as planets or everything you create can be described using km notation rather than m.

  5. 6:00 Dear God, I need this mod. This would have cut so much time on my System 1 top tier mall ☚ī¸ I built it on the dark side of a tidally locked planet, constant power from the sun side, and pretty lights on the dark side.

Btw, I work for Unity, agreed on all points 🙂

  6. Finally! Content on youtube is pretty bad at the moment. But atleast your still alive. Albeit later then your usual schedule, you make up for it with condensed gameplay! Excellent!

  7. One thing you may want to do to save yourself some power is set your interstellar logistics towers so that drones won't carry loads less than 100%. By default they're set to something super low like 1% or 10% which means they'll make trips and drain power for like 5 copper ore…

  8. If you run the rings of power where the grid fractures (+/-20-something), you get twice as much uninterrupted clean, ordered map grid to work with. The loss of power can be offset by doing one ring in each hemisphere.

  9. hey man your content is awesome. Don't listen to the fools complaining about what game you play or your upload schedule. The people that matter are not the ones who say "where have you been the video is LATE", its the ones who say "Awesome! A new video!" Its always great to see you upload, no matter what you play. Honestly I didn't much like Rimworld when you first started uploading videos of it, but after you introduced me to the game I really quite like it. You help keep me openminded, and you are both skilled in the games you play, and hilarious when you play them. Thank you for making good content, and good luck with all the unity games you play. unreal engine FTW
