  1. Spurs fan and quite frankly I’m not that happy with the new uefa champions league format (the extra games not the Swiss system per say ) and the super league is no better …… I could just about stomach the current format (when non champions qualifying) as number of games per season was about right and as we had a chance off top four finishes 50% of seasons and it did undo a bit off the old 90s one/two clubs dominating domestically which is still continuing across Europe as the other league’s aren’t quite as loaded with as big as a English tv deal …… and the relative fairness in the sky contract as pl top team earn 2:1 of the 20th team in Italy and Spain it’s more like 20:1 between top and bottom league finishes ! I’m just praying 1. We pull out a.s.a.p
    2. The other 14pl clubs don’t punish us as spurs fans and players not behind this.
3.either we keep football as it is or go back to 1992 systems.
    4. Uefa and fifa not blameless in this
World Cup should off stayed as 32 teams only differences is it should be based on metrics not deciding behind closed doors how many slots each confederation gets
Uefa were pushing it going from 16-24 teams for the euros with no reduction in number of qualifying games…… forgetting the money is it really wise to increase the number off journeys across Europe/the world more then there was in the early 2000s ? COVID has teached us this … at least nations league fixtures other then final four were just replacing friendly fixtures that were going to be played anyways …… basically I want the football calendar to stay as it is no extra demand on the players or the travelling miles

  2. Clubs supply players in Europe not colleges!! A player dumped by one of these franchises would go where ?? Back to domestic league for a lot less dosh? Franchise model could and would never work in football –In USA… NFL AND NBA YES ..So stay there!

  3. These club owners have STOLEN my game and club memories of yesteryear now mean nothing! The Name may go into the super league but the heart won’t be there of the real fans, it is broken and destroyed.
They don’t understand the game is in this countries Blood, it’s in our DNA.
We all laugh at The old adage
“Jumpers for Goal posts” because that’s what football means to us playing in the park, school play ground and street as kids. It’s where the players for these clubs originally started. They are STEALING our national game and heritage to make money!

  4. If they wanted to start it now, they can. The top 12 teams can be divided into two tables and each team can have 10 games guaranteed. But the midweek games like champion league or Europe league will be gone from them. The question is how will the tournament start and what are the laws?
The other best option is to get rid of these friendly match before the premier league start and have those matches there. At least the fans will know that every season they will have their warm-up matches in Italy, Spain or England and what group A or B they are in. Now they must decide which of the top 6 teams be in group A and the rest be in Group B. How will they decided the top 2 in group B goes to Group A and the bottom two in Group A goes to Group B.

  5. "All six Premier League teams involved in the European Super League (ESL) have now withdrawn from the competition." That's a huge victory (for now). Hats off to all of the fans, managers, players, etc., who scared them enough to force them to withdraw. The good of the game is NOT a secondary concern!!

  6. Those who want to be rich, however, fall into temptation and become ensnared by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. By craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. But you, O man of God, flee from these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.…

  7. Too bad the English as a Second Language (ESL) league could not continue. It would've been massive, huge, and very attractive.

  8. Why is SkySports acting like what they said is such a bad thing? If anyone knows anything about finance, that is the primary objective for any company. As much as it may sounds crazy to others, that is their objective. Shareholders hire people/agents to act within the best interest of the shareholders, and the prime objective for any company is to maximise shareholder wealth.

As much as I DON'T agree with the ESL, they are well within their right to do what they feel will maximise shareholder wealth. That's the whole point of owning a company. It was predicted by Arsene Wenger years ago.

Also it is very hypocritical that these guys are speaking on the integrity of their actions. Look at how much they're charging to watch their games even during the Covid period. Didn't they care more about money instead of the fans? Gtfo. So much contradiction.

  9. Either way it's a win for the countries involved. "it's sad for business' owners perspectives." Happy for football" – fans. Greed from both sides. They should have brought fan unions on board – reason it didn't work
