  1. CORRECTION * Eladrin do actually appear in 5e, my mistake! What races are you hoping to play on your BG3 journey?

  2. With all these races, classes and content Baldur's Gate 3 might just become one of those rare games I replay for years and years. I'm really hoping they don't mess up.
So far only the Elder Scrolls, Dragon age and Mass Effect games have done that for me. I still go back to play the early games in those franchises.
Well, on console at least. XCOM, AoW, AoE and HOMM still get a lot of my time and love on PC.

… also, not gonna lie; my inner Shepard is looking at all of those DnD races and going "We'll bang, ok?"

  3. What disappoints me about the game is that Larian lied to us from the beginning. They promised us the PHB races, and what we got instead was an exotic race – Gith. No Dragonborn? A true staple in 5e PHB? Sure, Gith make complete sense to the story because the Illithid's only true enemy is the Githyanki, but they purposefully left out PHB races in favor of adding an exotic race just for story. That's a major game design flaw. They should have kept to their word and gave us the PHB races, then added in the exotic ones later. Or just give us Lae'zel as the only Gith we can play right now. They already refused to give us Vampire Spawn as a playable race, so why not leave out the Gith too?

  4. Races in a computer game are not for role-playing as much as they are for min maxer players to power game with. After all 90% of the time you are looking at your players arse. One reason men roll female characters. The dialog is mostly skipped then look at the journal log to continue.

  5. One of the most interesting characters i ever made was an ilithid hobgoblin monk back in 4th edition.

He was once just a hobgoblin who worshiped a god of fire on a volcano temple. Then an ilithid wormed its way up from the underdark looking for a last ditch place to place an offspring. While he slept, the ilithid passed its worm like young into the monk.

Eventually.. the process of becoming an ilithid began to take form. But it was not set in stone. The hobgoblin changed physically into the form of an ilithid, but mentally and emotionally, they were one. Each having its own perception on the world and its happenings. The monk maintained his sanity and personality, but was always accompanied by his "dire side", as he would call it from time to time.

It was one of the best characters i ever made. Almost entirely unstoppable. Able to do 3 turns worth of actions in a single round. In the end, after the climactic battle in the Primordial plane of chaos against devil lords, i retired my character there in the planes of elemental chaos, meditating on a floating rock in the center of the multiverse to reflect on his existence with his wormy little companion.
