The version tested was 1.10.0.19.

Timestamps:

05:43 – Xbox Series S

Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X using FPS Boost both render at a resolution of 1920Γ—1080.

Note that the Corvega Assembly Plant scenes aren’t exactly like-for-like which should be kept in mind when comparing the performance of the two consoles. However, the Xbox Series X did have a clear advantage over Xbox Series S across multiple test runs.

  1. The platform area was also the worst performing place on the 8th gen. It looks something is in the code of console versions. Maybe the framerate drop is "prebacked" to avoid stuttering?

  2. This game is running smoothly, They said they had to lower the resolution to achieve a stable 60fps. But I think they lowered a couple of other things as well.
Like the enhancements that came with the One X are gone, I noticed details in the distance have been reduced back to what it was in the original base console version. Graphically it just looks slighty worse than it does than the One X version, but it runs much better.

  3. This is why I'm glad I went with a 32" 1440p 144hz freesync monitor. It's seems like the perfect middle-ground display for backward compatible games and new current gen games. 900p-1080p games still look great upscaled to 1440p and 4k games supersampled down to 1440p look super sharp and even more detailed than on my 4k display. I've been able to play this game with the 4k/60fps mod on and it's really smooth with vrr enabled, aside from some of the cutscenes.

  4. Tons of dips, screen tear, slow texture stream,1080p, Series X is clearly not ready for this Gen, Meanwhile God of War runs 2160CP with rock solid 60fps on the PS5 with better textures.

  5. Beautifully done, Kiwis.
Personally the drop in resolution on SX doesn’t bother as much as the scaled back LOD settings. Then afaik, Bethesda had no direct input in this update, only the MS’s BC team has.

  6. Series X users should use unofficial fps mod imo. Both drop frames in city but 4k looks much better. Still im super happy xbox team is doing these fps boost titles. Now finally playing Prey because of that. Im sure its more stable 60fps with fps boost but for me i prefer unofficial fps boost mod in this game

  7. The frame rate looks solid but when you go into a fully built up camp it drops, I know this because I have a fully built up Sanctuary Hills will lots of settlers, 2 created buildings, lots of crops and items on display, and it's very choppy.
