  13. 9:22 yeah, he worked as a delivery boy as a trainee and got hit by a car but kept it a secret cause he didn’t want to get kicked out of the company but that injury is why he had to get the surgery

    Haegeum means 2 things
    – a korean 2-string instrument w/c yoongi used in the production
    – liberation from prohibition
    Some interpretations:
    1. It's a commentary on the abuse of "freedom of speech/opinion" or freedom in general, society's discretion on good & evil, capitalism
    2. this is agust d in a diff timeline, sequel to daechwita, the thief agust d vs. the cop agust d

    My takeaways:
    1. "we must differentiate freedom from self-indulgence", a translator's note is that "differentiate freedom from lawlessness" is more accurate… yoongi's point is that if a person's kind of freedom is that w/c harm others, can you still call that freedom? it isn't freedom when you strip other people of their freedom…

    2. the blatant explicit MV considering he's an idol (k1lling, smoking, stealing)… idols are criticized for the smallest of things like for example seeing an idol smoking just like some other people do, he will be hated, insulted by the public and sometimes even punished by their label as if they committed a crime… they're like the fish in the water dispenser yoongi was watching (he & other celebrities is the fish), that depiction is worse than a fish in a fishbowl, coz they are not just simply being observed but also being stripped off the water that make them breathe…

    3. "Endless influx of information prohibits freedom of imagination/thoughts, and seeks conformity of thought"… nowadays people have been so comfortable being spoonfed w/ information w/o putting effort in fact checking and critical thinking that always triggers controversy and results to confusion and judgment… take for example when BTS announced they are taking a break from group activities, the headlines were saying they will be on hiatus or they are breaking up and people just blindly ate that news, if journos really watched the dinner and reading the subs they clearly said they are just resting frm grp activities and will come back.. so clearly those journos chose to write those headlines for their own gain just like the verse on haegeum says, "slaves to capitalism, money, hatred, prejudice etc."

    4. think of the red chopstick as the "capitalistic society"… that chopstick is a tool to get what we want whether what we want is to resist this kind of society or submit to it, in the end we are part of the society and it's what puts food in our mouth to survive… This is the harsh truth that we can't really escape from it, this is how society was built. But, there's a clear difference between functioning in a capitalistic society vs. actively participating in it and strip others of their freedom. So what should we do?

    5. Agust D is part of yoongi, his inner dark psyche that portrays his conflicting thoughts, and Agust D also splits into micro-characters (the rebel, the boss, the peasant, the king, the thief & the cop) that expresses each of his stance. The blonde agust d in 2016 used his anger (song: agust d) and greed (song: give it to me) as a weapon to rise from nothingness and people's naysaying. In 2020 (song: Daechwita) the blonde agust d who achieved his goals and success was consumed by his greed and became a tyrant king w/c was later k1lled by the rebel/boss agust d (one who's followed by people).. In 2023 (song: Haegeum), the scarred cop agust d seems to be on the side of justice and a man of power but actually the bad guy who pocketed that bag of money while the tangerine thief and boss on that turf was actually the agust d who's trying to catch the evil cop. The greedy agust d is always k1lled by the other agust d, but see how the king and the cop was still smiling and never runs away when the other agust d is abt to k1ll them, it's because they will always be back, it's a constant cycle of making sure that our greed is being keep in check, a constant contemplation… this is the answer to #4.

  23. When he was a trainee on Big Hit and he had a delivery work, he got into a car accident: he injured his shoulder. At the beginning he didn't told the company because he was afraid to be kicked out of the team before debut.
    Just during the pandemic he decided to finally had a surgery, until that moment he endured the pain with some treatments all of those years💜

  29. Yoongi was very poor in the past, and he used to work a delivery job before debut, but one day he got in a very bad accident that completely crushed his shoulder, he said that when he opened his eyes the car wheel was literally in front of his face
    His shoulder injury was very bad, but he couldn’t afford to go to the hospital, and didn’t say anything to the company (big hit) because he was scared that he wouldn’t be able to debut because of it, even bts didn’t know about it until later.
    He performed from 2013 to 2020 with a completely crushed shoulder, and even danced with it even if the pain was unbearable, but luckily he had a shoulder surgery in 2020 to fix it, it still hurts him a little from time to time but it got a lot better from before, when he couldn’t even move it sometimes bcuz of the pain.
    Amygdala is a beautiful and painful song, about yoongi’s past traumas, the mv shows him taking pills, most likely for mental health problems, since we know that suga suffered a lot from depression, social anxiety and OCD.
    The cutter may symbolize that he used to self-harm, but we are not sure.
    Btw amygdala is a part of the brain that stores sad or unpleasant memories to protect you from those situations in the future (example: some people have phobia from water or the sea, because they had a very scary experience with it like drowning. It’s the amygdala that holds on to that experience and makes you scared of the sea)

    As the lyrical content references some of his traumatic memories, including his own accident, his mother’s heart surgery, and his father’s cancer diagnosis, he begs his amygdala to release him from this pain.
    « I have massive mood swings whenever I’m working on this song. To work on it, I have to bring up some of my unpleasant memories. »-Suga

    However, rather than running from them, he faces them head on by writing about them in a song in order to overcome and “control” the memories in his head.
    « But this is actually a very important process to learn to control those memories. »— Suga

Amygdala is that almond-shaped part of the brain that automatically stores traumatic experiences. it is responsible for triggering fear, emotions of past memories, and creating a defense mechanism each time you happen to experience another or any similar trauma. It's brave for Suga to release his past experiences in this song. yes, he used to be a delivery boy, working part time when they debuted. he was a trainee then when he suffered in a car crash, and was afraid to tell his bosses in BigHit about the incident in fear they would let him go. but on top of the situation, Suga's family (as they were poor) had to face her mom's heart condition, and on top of that, was his father's illness. it was difficult for Suga to defend his decision to pursue his music aspirations to his parents back then because they wanted him to pursue a career that is more secure, like in government or corporate world (or any office jobs and be a usual company employee) because they know that kind of job at least provides job security. So probably that is part of the big decisions he had to make in life. I'm glad that he has now healed and has recovered from his trauma and bad experiences. I only wish him well.

  32. Daimo don't you remember from your past reactions that Suga had surgery on his shoulder and couldn't perform with his members in some of their performnaces? This is why he had the surgery, because he got into an accident and injured his left shoulder while doing delivery in his trainee days.
