  1. Well fortnite's inception itself was because of a company chasing a trend. And I'm not talking BR. The PvE mode was chasing the zombie survival trend. The BR was chasing the BR trend set up by Pubg. And well, now this. What did you expect

  2. I'm not opposed to companies taking ideas from other games, and then improving on them. Depending on how this game turns out that may, or may not, be the case. The originality issue is not much of a problem for me. My driving consideration is quality.

It's inevitable that a big company will create a game based on an extremely popular genre. It happens every time, but I guess indie studios don't realize that. Imposters does bare extreme similarity to Among Us, but it's obviously legally distinct. I can't even be angry, because companies have massive incentive to pursue success, and Among Us did have a few years of wild success. I also wouldn't want Among Us to be able to have such a nebulous copyright that Epic would be prevented from making Imposters either. That would be certain death for video games, in general. Basically, this is a sad fact of life, but it needs to be allowed to happen. Of course, I won't be playing Imposters. It's just not my type of game.

  3. I don't have a problem with among us getting some competition, but a multi-billion dollar company is stealing the idea of a small indie dev. That's messed up, honestly. And they did the same to PUBG. Disgusting

  4. Even though it is frowned upon, It is not a crime to copy other games ideas. Which is why Fortnite and other games take gameplay ideas from each other all the time. The crime happens when Fortnite uses the Among Us "sounds" or "Character Sprites" without their permission. They know how far they can go when it comes to copy pasta..

Social Media have been copy pasting each other for years. FB added stories, Twitter added a clubhouse like feature.

Because Fortnite has the uniqueness of not being limited to one genre, They can copy or invent from a wide range of genres/games..

  5. Fortnite started off inspired by pubg and has constantly been stealing other people's dance moves, ideas, products, putting it into their own game and acting like their geniuses for doing it. The best comparison I can give is china's industrial espionage.

  6. People really dont understand the grimey ass nature of someone taking a game that you usually have to pay for to play, ripping its mechanics and entire premise, and then putting in a free to play game that already make millions of not billions of dollars that already has a player base and following without making sure they at least pass the credibility back. They didnt need it but they did it cuz I guarentee you people will tell themselve why pay for among us when I can just play this for free….. That's the fucked up part. Especially as a game that has as much backing as it does doing that to an indie dev. It's like Walmart shutting down a mom and pop store by lowering their prices

  7. NOTHING about Among Us is original…and nothing about this looks like among us any more than any of the other TTT rip offs. And that map layout is visibly NOT the same layout!

To be clear I like among us, I haven't been bothered with fortnite for years. I most dislike agenda in journalism where you are told to reach a conclusion the journalist has reached instead of your own objective interpretation of the information.

  8. All they had to do was give up a few million to earn billions in the years to come. They lost a lot of potential respect they could’ve had and free advertisement

  9. Nothing is original nowadays, the gaming genre of Murder Mystery doesn’t belong to anyone. That’s like saying no one else can make a survival game because Minecraft already did it, or no one else can do a Battle Royale game because Fortnite already did it

  10. I wish everyone would just curb their consumer bias ffs 🙄
Yeah, Epic stole the idea. So what? It happens all the time. How many games have ripped off the Battle Pass concept? How many games have implemented a Battle Royale mode since Fortnite became popular?

To become a successful business, you find out what is selling, and you sell that. It's really that simple.
Sucks for the small companies, yeah, but them's the breaks, kiddo.

  11. My ten year old routinely asks for money for Among US and I'd give in maybe 10% of her requests. As of today she'll get to spend a lot more money in the game.
