This is exactly why I quit playing Destiny 2 after Beyond Light. I was new to the game in 2020 and spent months masterworking my main weapons and armor only to discover that in Beyond Light, they can't be upgraded except for the exotic equipment. I had 3 characters with all Masterworked equipment and nothing overpowered in their loadout. I played for PVE and couldn't care less about PVP.
Ether Doctor – Sunshot – Bad Omens. Every character had that set up. I had plenty of weapons in my vault that I used for bounties or nightfall strikes but generally it was that loadout.
I don't mind grinding for equipment, even when there is a reliance on RNG with the drops. But I'm not going to invest time grinding equipment that has an expiry date and I'm especially not going to re-grind for the same equipment I did in 2020. I played Beyond Light for about an hour but after realising that about 75% of my equipment was now obsolete (hundreds of items in my vault)……I left and haven't returned. I even managed to get a refund for buying Beyond Light.
