GENSHIN IMPACT: A HOPEFUL FUTURE? PATCH 1.5 AND BEYOND

Can it get any worse than now in Genshin Impact? [CLICK SHOW MORE]

For the first time I wanted to add my opinions and my side of the story. I love the game and I only expect quality from Mihoyo, however.. keeping my expectations in a reality check.

  1. Zhongli is the only character I spend money on and will be the only one. honestly I regret every penny spend for this game even though I love it and I'm exited for the future.
I guess that is what gatcha does.

  2. I mean Zhong Li seems to activate all the crazy female whales, and all the male gamers also want him because he just just a badass dude (and fucking OP)…
Speaking of which, i am saving up for his repeat banner cause i don't have him yet… (Unless Ayaka's release date gets announced). Before the repeat banner I think I'll just roll on Childe banner for Rosaria C0.

Albedo doesn't seem like a fun character. Xiao looks cool, his hype helped sell him, but I think without the hype he would've sold to a similar level as Hu Tao (who had some fans, but was far less than what Xiao seemed to have in terms of story significance, etc)

  3. if they want to retain the players, something about chest respawning will do wonder. It will encourage the player to explore the vast map again while enjoying the adventure with music, scenery, combat. Does it inflate primogems? i dont think so, getting a chest yield 2 primo or the best 5 primogems, and for a map to take, let say 3 hours playing, opened 60 chest, total primo would be 120-300. I dont mind they will remove the primogems reward on their events to compensate and this will result to more action rather than waiting for dailies then log out

  4. Their money is going to 2 games worth of content. Animations in Honkai I'm pretty sure is much more expensive than what they do for Genshin so Im not surprised if the money they earned is gone in a couple of weeks

  5. Re: Husbandos vs Waifus selling points

Something I've observed that's really interesting, is that literally every Genshin player I know is a woman. The female Genshin community is *huge*. However, we don't tend to hang out on youtube and twitch, because the community there tends to be pretty hostile towards women. So it doesn't surprise me that there's a large female audience that a lot of youtube/twitch content creators just aren't seeing.

Secondly, the data from the Klee banner wasn't included in that graphic, but it was the second highest earner among all banners to date. (Venti being the highest.) Childe's sales also aren't included in that graphic, and he did second-worst in sales overall to date (second only to Keqing). It also only includes mobile sales, and I think many mobile players steered away from Ganyu because of how tricky playing a charged shot DPS is on mobile. I'm not certain, but I feel like the data might skew differently if you included overall sales across all platforms.

Either way, I wouldn't say it's exactly true that the waifus are all selling less well than the husbandos overall. Rather, I would say that 1) the graphic is a tad misleading to start with since it cherry picks a lot of information, and 2) the data pool is pretty small so far to begin with, and there are a lot of other mitigating factors that can impact someone's banner performance other than whether they're a waifu or a husbando, lol. Many people make their save/spend decisions based on who they know to be upcoming, which we saw with Childe's first banner. Childe was right before Zhongli, who everyone was hyped for, so many people chose to skip his banner and save and then went all-out on Zhongli. Albedo's banner was directly impacted then by the drama surrounding Zhongli. Ganyu and Xiao were both hyped, but were two hyped banners back-to-back, so many players had to choose between one or the other. Hu Tao came right before Venti re-run. And so on and so forth. All these factors have an influence on a banner's performance, so it's really too difficult to say whether the character's gender was the impacting factor, lmao.

The final point that I think is worth noting is that husbandos tend to have double the appeal pool that waifus do. What I mean when I say this is that five star husbandos generally tend to appeal to both the male-attracted and non-male-attracted audience. They're cool, but not overly sexualised. People who are attracted to men get to ogle their cool husbando, and those who are not can still enjoy their cool factor. I know a lot of straight men who enjoy playing as Zhongli or Childe or Xiao because they're badass. HOWEVER, the waifus, on the other hand… tend not to fall into the same category. Most of them tend to be fairly hyper-sexualised, which can be an immediate turn-off for many female players. Even as a bi woman, I get uncomfortable when I play as Ganyu 'cause her ass is just constantly out. I couldn't say for certain, this is only my speculation, but I would speculate that if there's a reason for husbando banners doing better than waifu banners overall (and it isn't just a coincidence because of banner placement), it's probably because of this– not that the ratio of male/female players is skewed in favour of women, but rather that the male characters released to date have more broad-range appeal than the female characters released to date.

    But just my two cents.

  6. The characters’ sales order are exactly how I thought it would be lol. The hype around Zhongli and Xiao were surprisingly massive. Zhongli’s was really surprising, considering all that drama around him. Xiao’s made sense since he was hyped before the game was released, still greater than expectations though considering how people know there would be a rare pyro WAIFU coming up next to him. It’s husbandos > meta time yall lol.

  8. Its because its a mobile game.
The size of the data limits the game.

If MiHoYo double the size, they would loose 30% of the players on lunch of update.

I'm worried that the game will fail due to only PC, large storage console and phone will be the only players vs limited data size.

  9. the storage issue is a big problem because they still need new player but if people just see the size of the game is so big they not even bother to try the game
idk how they go through this, because if the game exceed 50gb i don't had interest in keeping this game no more
