  3. I and my little sister are Asians, and we play Genshin Impact together. Not once did we feel like the game was racist or had any racist intentions. Also, the original language was either Mandarin, Cantonese or Japanese, and all of these languages are difficult to translate into English.

    A good example is when my sister and I played Co-Op, my sister would tap on a statue, and it would say:
    "…"
    "Leave."
    Okay, so ominous. BUT. When I searched it up (because it kinda freaked the both of us out), it turns out that it was a mistranslation, and it really should have said something like "let's go".

    Xinyan (a character that I actually have) is only scary looking because of her ATTIRE – not her skin. Not once did it state that the people of Liyue were scared or disgusted because she had a slightly darker skin. She was just wearing clothes that scared the children.

    Istg, like… when I showed my little sister (11) a tweet about it, she laughed because the picture in it was Zhongli looked rather displeased with an iPhone photoshopped in.

    If they were going to 'boycott' Genshin, they should have at least talked about the gacha system, primo system or something that the players ACTUALLY care about.

  5. As an Egyptian-Arab, what the actual frigg. Almost all Egyptians or Arabs would not care if a Japanese game appropriates our culture(s). From an Egyptian viewpoint, I have had many people, even friends, ask if in Egypt we live in desert huts. I don't think anyone cares too much of this narrative and if anything, benefits our tourism industry. I would bet a good penny that the person who made the tweet in the thumbnail is just a twitter activist, speaking on the behalf of groups they are not even part of.

I'm a Honkai Impact player, and I can actually provide three separate examples of the r slur being used in game, specifically as an insult! two of these times I can think of were Bronya calling Kiana the slur, and a third time was when Nikola Tesla said it in the context of telling someone else they could call her that. i know for sure these happened since I have seen them with my own eyes very recently!

  9. 6:15 The funny thing is that the game HAS representation.

    For those who are unfamiliar with Genshin Impact, Teyvat, the continent in which is set the game, is divided in seven nations and each of these is inspired by a different culture:
    -Mondstadt (Germany);
    -Liyue (China);
    -Inazuma (Japan);
    -Sumeru (Egypt/India);
    -Fontaine (France)
    -Natlan (Indigenous America);
    -Snezhnaya (Russia);

    So basically 4 of the the 7 nations has people or color.

    Also, i want to clarify that Mihoyo is a Chinese Company not Japanese.

  13. About the loli shit in the game, yeah that’s disgusting and should not be in the game. But with the sjws on twitter trying to cancel the game all because there isn’t a black person or a Hispanic person is fucking stupid and only shows their mentality. It’s a game from China! How many black peoples or Hispanics or whites live in China?! It’s the same thing their trying to do with anime!!! People need to learn that just because a show or video game doesn’t have “representation” I mean I’m not even 18 and these people who are older than I am complaining that a show or video game doesn’t include a black or Hispanic person is petty.

  20. Bad info. Flora was an adult in the beta, but she's been aged down. They forgot to change the voiceline for the NPC that says he loved miss Flora after the age down. They aren't condoning it, and have since changed the voiceline.

  22. My biggest issue with the drama is the attitude I see sorrounding it. Not only the sheer amount of people going in 100% like they are in the right despite knowing full context but also an attitude which some of my friends sadly adopted too which is "You need to be educated on the issues" when the issues are non-existant to begin with

  23. Actually the company is Chinese, and there are a lot of characters in the game who are from different nations, and the nations in the game are based out of real counties(currently there are only 2 that are available, Liuye=China and Mondstdat=Germany)
    The characters that are available at the moment are German, Chinese and one Russian

    an excuse since the company that made the game used a native culture to "inspire" a group of monsters that are depicted as sav*ges. Of course people are going to be upset at that.

  28. Funny enough some of the same people are not surprised being racist themself, there is an Indonesian genshin impact player who type gini amat nasib babu, and the audacity of em to associated it with hillicurl is astonishing, apparently I am a goblin like monster to em, lol.
