No way! I had that same camcorder (I'm pretty sure). The tapes that worked on mine were VHS-C, the visual effects were very basic. Your battery pack is quite slim though, the battery that I had was huge and only lasted 50 mins at a time.

I found a backwards compatible ps3 at one of my local goodwills the other day for $40. I was shocked it was in minty condition too. Snagged that in a heartbeat. Best find of the year.
