Gran Turismo 4 is The Holy Grail of Racing Videogames

The Real Driving Simulator.

It’s been 17 years and there still somehow isn’t a game out there capable of doing what Gran Turismo 4 managed to do in 2004. Seriously, all of this was in a PS2 GAME. How long have we been playing 30fps 1080p titles on our consoles for? This is the peak of racing games, the greatest of all time. There will never be another game like Gran Turismo 4.

It all started here.

Songs:
Gran Turismo 4 OST – Horizon
Gran Turismo 4 OST – Light Velocity Ver. II
Gran Turismo 4 OST – Don’t Kick Yourself
Gran Turismo 4 OST – Mission Impossible
Gran Turismo 4 OST – An Old Bassman
Gran Turismo 4 OST – GT Mode Course Selection 1
Gran Turismo 4 OST – Moon Over the Castle

  1. I have been emulating Gran Turismo (PSP) on my phone for quite a while now and I will say that it is the best racing game for mobile. It is literally GT4 but in your pocket.

  2. Grand Turismo 4 has alot of passion like you said. I have many hours in this game and I feel passion even in the creation of the menu, in the garage, in the care and details in the sound, storage options and even in the countries and the variety of brands and their models of several years.

  3. Man I remember playing GT6 more than GT4 since I played GT4 was when I was a kid but I can clearly see the timelessness. I mean look at the ui, if you don't look at it closely, you might think they're the same game! Clearly, GT4 was way ahead of its time

  4. I loved that game to the bottom… The 48h Races that me and my father keep switching on turns to complete (we didnt know about the B-Spec), the damn near-impossible missions… Everything was good and gold <3

  5. Such a great video. Prefectly sums up the greatness of this game. The GT series was made by car enthusiasts, for car enthusiasts, which explains a lot of the content and attention to detail.

  6. thank you so much for making this video, this brought back memories of me buying this game from a second hand shop in 2011 and sinking hours upon hours into it and enjoying every aspect, again, I humbly thank you <3

  7. Ahh legendary games GT3, 4
    Best Games I've ever played
Sadly my PS2 is not working
And my PC is too bad to emulate GT4
But I have my PS3 Super Slim and play GT5 and 6 on it

  8. This was a great video, really encouraged me to look into the game myself!

Just a small point of critique here: The audio is a bit weird, it makes it sound like you're deliberately downshifting your voice, which distorts your voice a bit. You could look into the settings on your mic or recording software to see if you can fix that issue

  9. Do some games have better gameplay? Yes.
Do some games have larger car rosters? Yes.
Do some games have a better gameplay loop? Yes.
Did any of them do all those elements as well as GT4? Not a chance.

  10. the revival is an actual thing and i'm happy for it. my childhood was basically afternoons and mornings of playing GT4 with my dad, so i'm happy that someone is putting in the effort to actually bring it back with gameplay and instructions on how to get it running.

  11. only problem is that you can't directly compare an open world, event based game to an actual motorsport simulator. Forza motorsport and gran truismo are completely different in comparison to Forza horizon

  12. I hope Gt7 has the same if not a harder impact than this game. it was my very first game Ive ever played from my dads collection and after all these years and games I still return to it and can still put hours if I have the free time. I also had Gran Turismo 3 but I just liked 4 better. I remember not long ago sitting down and listening to most of the soundtrack and tears. games 1-4 have such a good soundtrack that the rest of the series misses. Gran Turismo 4 is possibly my favorite game, up there with battlefield 1(if you have not checked out the soundtrack or game DO IT!!!), and GTA vice city amongst many more. Gran turismo has lost a lot of it soul with its recent titles and I love GT sport but nothing hits like Gran Turismo 4.

  14. Great video! First of all, do a video on GT4 Online pls asap …

I had the first gen Driving Force Pro and it was really great. I can say this game and the wheel was the first experience i had almost feel the textures of the tires. It can teach you about intricasies of weight distribution and chassis rigidity so well your senses will change. The tragedy is that a good friend of mine needed a wheel for an i-racing torunament and i handed it to him, he broke it somehow the day he set up. He said he needed a wheel and he cannot afford it but the next day he called to tell me he bought a G29 and clutch feels great. We're not talking ever since as i legitimitely feel like some of my limbs are just cut-off. Take care of your Driving Force Pros guys, they're priceless.

also: You're driving the Stratos wrong noob lol … ok, now i'm sad because i used to overtake Evo8s outside the corners, not anymore without the wheel 🙁

  15. Open ended questions for the comment section. If I was to emulate this game on my pc there are considerations I’d like to take into factor:
Are there mods to improve the game?

What controllers work for this game? Are there mods that support new controllers for this game?

Does a normal Logitech steering wheel setup for pc work for this game when emulated?

What frame rate do I have to keep in order to keep the game functioning?

Are there other alternatives than emulating the game?
