I am sure you have heard the term or phrase uttered a few times around the Apex Legends Ranked community, but what is griefing? This is something that refers to a player or team throwing their game with no reasonable cause.

Griefing is typically done by hardstuck players in ranked, and this will prevent them from moving onto the next ranked solely due to bad decision making. Here is how you are griefing, why it is called griefing, and how you can stop griefing your ranked games.

  1. I guess the apex community doesnt understand what griefing means, this would be true if players intentionally made bad plays but most dont. Griefing is the intention to ruin someones game. A way better word for apex community to use would be ‘throwing’

  2. I play solo queue, my teammates aren't always the best, but I communicate as much as I can, often times I'm telling my team "don't fight this, there's more teams nearby" but there's always that one random guy that doesn't talk and doesn't listen. Anyone wanna make a team? 🙂

  3. I've felt this way since I started playing in season 7, now at lvl 340, people still don't care. In my opinion that's the single best tip on improving. Instead of being 3rd partied you can do the third partying. Its even worse as a Rampart main, you set up Sheila on high ground and the 2 randoms would literally run off ahead knowing they were coming to us. Literally just to die. Its exhausting really

  4. Most of my fights if I'm constantly on edge from drop usually win the game where as drop quiet loot up dont fight till like the 10 squads left get shit on by first squad we fight it's all about playstyle

  5. So we can't start fights because that's griefing I'm telling you right now buddy Everytime I play I'm going for my P.R. I take all fights I back off when I need but I'm full on pushing I got a 2.97 k.d. so I'm doing something right

  6. Right this has no standing because all your saying makes no sense playing the game isn't griefing. Some people just don't like sitting in a corner the entire game. Also I'm sure everyone already knew that being the third part is the best way to win lol.

  7. The issue is “griefing” in end game doesn’t exist. Early game yeah you can grief hard. But if I’m gonna challenge for a last circle god spot it’s just another call.

  8. I’m a pred level player, and don’t necessarily agree with all of this. Some people can climb consistently and still drop on 2 other teams, yes maybe they climb slower.. but they have more fun, more momentum and more time to practice fights. In my opinion “Griefing” depends on the intent… some people know they aren’t there to win so they purposely push fights with the intent to ruin another teams experience. That is griefing, making stupid plays because your are low skill is not necessarily griefing, even though we may call it that.

  9. I say take as many fights as you can, build your awareness and learn how to use your surroundings to your advantage. As you rank up, you’ll typically be playing against better competition, so yes your decision making needs to be better, but so does your gun skill. Learning to finish fights fast and efficient is key.

  10. On the one hand sure camping a spot can rank you up all day , but on the other hand it's more fun to fight which is the whole point. At a certain point you have to get a least 1 kill and top 3 spot to rank. To me it seems like you're just upset about 3rd parties and want 1v1 arena fights the whole time which is the exact opposite point of the game. Sure if you're playing ranked with randoms don't take the fight, but if playing with friends do whatever you like. I see you telling people to play pubs for how they like to play why don't you just stick to arenas if you're tired of "griefing". I swear you give it a week and streamers would then complain about all the camping by your own logic.

  11. What? I dont get this I'm not supposed to fight someone? How am I supposed to know theres another team? If I engage and they 3rd party it normally comes to both teams shooting me and the looting and shit is good when you play loba quick lots so in fights more with good shit people just need to stop jumping on the 3rd party but BRs just suck

  12. Tbh I never heard someone say that in apex 😂💯 actually the word is used more in the gta5 gaming community and it’s supposed to mean “ppl who go out there way to kill u for no reason”

  13. Some people in the comments sad cus they don’t understand game pacing, you can take fights and still make good decisions without griefing. I’m at fault of this too without realizing for a while but it so true. If you’re playing for the win you gotta play smart
