i feel like having them both be separate doesn't make sense no one is going to want to pay for a "story mode" just for better graphics yes i know there is an expanded portion but like cmon its rockstar chances are it might not even be worth it

It was already said by Sony or rockstar that the online standalone version would be free for ps players for the first 3 months of its release
If the next gen upgrade is exclusive to Playstation 5 then Take 2 take the piss. There are others players on other platforms of next gen and pc. Be a big mistake to make it exclusive to Playstation

Here is my theory of what will probably happen. GTA online for next gen consoles will release in June and will be free for ps plus members on PS5, but people on Xbox Series X|S and pc will have to pay for it then once that 3 month ps plus deal is up in September that's when the next gen story mode will be released I think the 17th cause that's GTA 5 8th anniversary then on that same day will be when the free GTA online for ps plus members on PS5 will end and if you didn't claim it in that time you will have to buy it.

Actually, the way it is worded, it sounds like there are 2 versions of GTA Online…one attached to single player as it stands and a stand alone version.

“There will also be” suggests that there will be 2 GTA Online versions because Rockstar talks about the GTA Online journey will continue first and then mentions the stand-alone Online. Two separate entities…

Yes there will never be a Gta Online 2. This will be the only one. That's why they're making it seperate from story mode. Who knows we may never see a gta 6 and if we do that wont affect the online at allllll. Unless they do a map expansion
