  1. I don't buy those excuses about the old announce footage. Why would anybody want to show off resolution over fidelity? Both the new consoles can do 4K so there's nothing to set this game apart; it would have made far more sense to put out a 1080p trailer with a lot more detail in it & then work on increasing the resolution later, especially with things like AI upscaling now being possible. I think they just weren't ready to show it off at the time. Also, this customisation stuff is half-baked & smells of microtransactions (even if they aren't randomised loot boxes).

The best thing they could do with this "platform for the future" thing is probably take the Hitman approach where they fold older content into the new engine & upgrade that engine every year or so, building on to things over time. What will probably happen instead is that they'll just pile on vast quantities of little DLC bits & pieces over the first few years and not bother upgrading the engine at all (Mortal Kombat 11 style). It might still work out if they can avoid splitting the multiplayer base with paid map packs..

  2. A lot of video game franchises have lasted 20, 30 years or more, but I think Halo should hang it up. The only reason it blew up was because it was the killer app the Xbox needed to usher in first person shooters and MP games onto consoles. Prior to this, this genre was exclusive to PC. Microsoft knows this, and I'm impressed they've managed to keep Halo going for as long as they have. Yes, it's all about money, but recent entries have shown this can't be the only reason to make Halo, anymore. We don't know anything beyond what we've seen, but like I said, I think Infinite will be Halo's swan song, but not in a graceful way, unfortunately. I hope Microsoft and 343 prove me wrong, but I won't be upset if Halo is finally put to rest and then rebooted 10, 15 years down the line.

  3. So, 117 is a hollow suit machine?! Figured it's a cyborg thingy, but it totally removed the helmet at the end of Halo 1 and the cinematic shown here seems to contradict that. So, what's under the visor?

  4. All we need is those screen turns to white or black before going to a cutscene..and that recharger shield hexagons animation on the screen to go away this ain’t anime …

  5. Here’s how it is. If the gameplay trailer was the first look at the new game and it, according to 343 and Microsoft, was not loaded with the latest graphics, they should’ve written that at the beginning of the trailer. But they didn’t. The world frowned and criticized, and 343 went: What?!

NOW they say it isn’t graphically showing anything near the final game. Unless you listen to VP Spencer who says it’s not suppose to look realistic. What?
