Hardcore Difficulty Is Resident Evil Village’s Sweet Spot

If you’re a seasoned Resident Evil player, then you should consider playing on Hardcore difficulty for your first Resident Evil Village playthrough.

As someone who plays way too much Resident Evil and knows all the series’ tricks, one of the few issues I had with RE Village was that I thought it was a bit too easy on Standard mode, and it’s easy to feel a little too comfortable while playing. Hardcore demands you learn and master the game, weigh the cost benefit of crafting, scavenge everything, and make every bullet count. If a bit of an uphill struggle is the kind of experience your looking for out of a Resident Evil game, you can’t go wrong with Hardcore.

  1. Village of shadows is insane, watching some streamers who are speedrunners of this franchise do it and basically they say don't do it as your first playthrough, you get soft blocked because you can run out of ammo.

  2. Summary of this video: Standard Mode was too easy as it’s intended, if you want the game to be harder, play on harder modes. The dumbest video I have ever seen, gaming journalism is seriously dead

  4. I’m playing Returnal right now as well, so you bet your ass I’m playing on Casual right now, haha. I’m not looking for a challenge on my first playthrough. I like playing RE for the story first, anyway, then jump in on a harder difficulty afterwards.

  5. Started my play on hardcore and got to the part you gotta survive will all the enemies was stuck for an hour and a half so I said screw it and started a new game on standard now it’s too easy and I didn’t know the block was effective

  6. I’m not a particularly skilled gamer and I usually just go for the Normal mode in games. However, I did notice that the boss level is easy to beat and with a lot of ammo to spare. So far, I died in the game during the spiky spikes and once during a boss because I was panicking and didn’t block on time. I’ll try the hard mode once I get used to the gameplay. But for now I’m having fun with the pacing.

  7. As a resident evil veteran myself and even though i do agree with much of what is said in the video i did find the FPS camera of the game to be a game changer of how i approached my first playthourgh. Simple put it the more action horror style of gameplay and the first person perspective made my first run more dificult than it would have been if the camera was in third person and i had better view of my surroundings like i am used to in past RE games.Although i do think that people with a lot of experience in other first person shooters and simultaneously veterans of the RE seriess must indeed start the game in hardcore

  8. Honestly I think this is one of the reasons people complained so much about RE3 remake being so easy. I saw a lot of people playing on normal difficulty and breezing through it in just 3 hours. Despite its other flaws, It was much more enjoyable for me on Hardcore mode, and it took longer. I think any veteran of the series should always start a new game with that kind of challenge.

  9. It doesn't makker which RE game or "The Evil Within", but I can't play in such a mode simply because I don't wanna get angry every time I miss a shot.
I have much more fun when I'm a bit overequiped instead of hoping that my very last bullet kills the enemy.
Not only that, but the beginning of the game has a really nasty section, and I can't even imagine doing it on Hardcore.

  10. It’s pretty unfortunate how many enemies it throws at you right away. If you try to start the game on hardcore, you get stuck on the first combat encounter for a long while lmao.
