You still have to exit via another way since the manhole exit is broken, but for all intents and purposes rating & time wise, it stops when you use the manhole exit. If only I'd told everyone about the manhole exit, I played on the day of launch. I also found a glitch where if you dump a body in it at a weird angle then you can get stuck in the stack of bricks next to it.
