  1. I was just thinking, if I'm a developer for a game, if I release them game right now for those scalpers systems, why should I even bother releasing a game right now since most of these systems are being scalped and just sitting there? Wouldn't the sales not be up to expected because of these systems just collecting dust currently until this situation gets resolved? Seems the only way I could sell is by pc download only

  2. Solution: Get more PHYSICALLY stock!

I get it, pandemic. But stores are LEGALLY allowed to have shoppers follow guidelines, and if they don’t follow said guidelines, they have the authority to refuse service to you. Stores can force social distancing and lines to reduce the fighting over the products, they can actively reject the purchase of multiple consoles at once and limit it to one per person by requiring the buyer’s ID at purchase, and the best part of this solution, THERE ARE NO BOTS. Yes, there will be people who try to cheat the system, but it’s way more secure than online console purchases in which bots can just snatch the console up in like 5 seconds, reducing the ENTIRE stock to dust in mere minutes. And for those who do attempt to cheat the system (fake ID, theft, etc.) it’s very likely that they will be caught very soon if not immediately.

  3. Consoles are typically sold at a loss at launch, if the consoles are just sitting collecting dust..the games and accessories which create profit are also collecting dust which hurts sony and Microsoft

  4. Capitalism at it's simplest form, unfortunately…supply and demand…Sony and Microsoft create this problem…it's bullshit to think that Microsoft and say Walmart can't saturate the stores with consoles making scalping less lucrative…It's called SUPPLY and demand

  5. Sony not making money off games tho , buying consoles over and over can only do so much for them, there are people who quit buying video games simply they too focused trying to get the next gen

  6. No it's named basic economics
Because of demand people go and buy the thing and sell it for a high price, you aren't forced to buy it you can just wait until the price drop, i get that people want a ps5 or xbox x but it's isn't illegal and the free market control the prices.

  7. I’ve been seeing this behavior for little items too. Bath and Body Works had a Halloween collection of cool Haunted House wallflowers and they only stocked a few per store. They were gone within minutes according to shop workers I talked to. They ended up on eBay for double the price and I almost went for it cuz it was $60-$90 not $1800 like the PS5. I thought better of it when I realized it would encourage the scalpers

  8. Wouldn't Sony be hurting from all of these scalpers because it's keeping consoles from legit gamers? I've always heard they don't make as much money from console sales, but instead make the bulk of it from software and accessory purchases. Of those said consoles are just sitting in storage instead of in legit consumer's hands, would that hurt Sony more in the long run?

  9. Series S is literally looked past and you can see this when shopping on every website like Walmart and even the Microsoft website which is very confusing but also makes sense because the main seller for Microsoft was the series x

  10. Honestly I don't mind if people get two consoles and sell one for some profit so they can keep the other one for free. Scalping has been happening for years in the sneaker market
